ek de-cat ... 2 loud ?

looking for some advice ..... iv got a skunk2 cat back system and 4.1 manifold on my ek4 (sounds like a subaru) . i went to the custom exhaust place where im geting the middle box cut out of it and pipe fitted in as the baffles are rattling about in the middle box . i had asked for de-cat also . but they sed it will be far far far too loud :blabla: and it put me of the idea . but my mate has a unkown cat back system with 4.2.1 manifold on a ej9 and its double as loud as mines just now . and sounds great !

so would runing a 2.5inch pipe from my manifold to my back box make it crazy loud ? or should i just get middle box cut out and leave standered cat ? :thanks:

why do you want to decat? For a louder exhaust? Or to gain HP?
If its for HP dont bother.
If its for loudness of exhaust your after, its not that much louder, so dont bother.
 
just for more noise realy . so it wont get much louder if i run pipe from my manifold to back box ?
 
so your saying runing a empty pipe of my block rite to a back box wont be loud lol ?
 
Have you looked into a cat., ever? Its almost straight through as it is stock. You will not gain loudness by removing it. Just a lighter bank account from paying for it to be removed and put back on to pass smog.

I just did this myself buddy, no sound difference to talk about. Put on a better exhaust system, or in your case a louder one. The muffler is what effects the sound of your car, it muffles the sound...dig?
 
what will happen is the smell of your exhaust will become way more noticeable both to you and to the cars behind you...like the police. ;)
 
cant help but think you are very wrong ? i had a crappy 30 pound back box on my 1st car . 1.2 corsa ! wasnt loud sounded **** . then took my cat out and it set of car alarms poped fire got me afew noise pulotion fines etc etc still sounded **** but just from a de-cat it made a massive massive diffrence in noise ?
 
Decat makes a massive difference to the sound

It makes a difference to performance too, not necessarily peak HP gains because to be honest you probably won't gain a great deal there, but it seems to free the revs up a bit and IMO it's an improvement..

I run a decat on mine, always have, probably always will.

pipe from manifold to back box it is then :) will keep old middle box and cat for mot and for the police lol

Enjoy...let us know what you think...i don't think you are going to be very impressed with the added "noise".

b18C-R with 4-1 JDM header, Apexi WS Exhaust, decat: no noticeable noise gain. Put cat back on and I noticed no noticeable loss from prior decat.
 
Im running a 5zigen border which are notoriously loud with a de-cat and standard manifold,its crazy loud,a good raspy loud tho which can be controled...just! Go with the de-cat man.
 
just wondering about de-cat and no middle box ? think it would melt my back bumper lol ? saw afew civics with the burnt back bumpers from de cats . i think lol
just had car painted dont want my bumper to get fryed lol
