FIX for PASSENGER Footwell Leaking.

My 9 is leaking badly so after a lot of investigation, it is a common problem with these Civic.

Peel back the carpet in the footwell, check if you got water running down the face of the firewall.

If so, it is likely to be in the corner where sealant weren't on properly.

You have to remove the Heater and Aircon box, you need to De-gas the aircon system, so I wouldn't recommend doing it at home unless you have the equipment.

once removed on the top left corner you will see this, in my case it was leaking where circled.

Check you dont have a clutch master cylinder (or brake MS) leak down there. itll also melt the paint off/bubble it up if it is leaking!!

ive not long completed doing mine.
you have to remove the whole dash to do it right to get good access to the rear.
once thats off doesn't take too long. just add some new sealer, paint over it and your done.
Id take my time doing the sealer and wait until its fully dry and apply another layer or two just to be on the safe side.
it rained all day and night the other day, no sign of wetness inside at all now, so its worked a treat

Can't you fix it from the engine bay side. The sealer can also crack just above the rear light units and cause boot leak.
Dunx

you can add some sealant around the rubber plugs that's behind the battery and fuse box, these can start to leave water in if they are old and worn.
also under the wiper shuttle pannel on the passenger side, i used some on any little gapps in the metal i could find

bump, can i get to it by just removing the heater box behind the glovebox?
