Hi. I was hoping you lads could give me some advice
I've got an Ej9 facelift 2001 I'm currently saving for a b16b engine conversion.i really want to lower my car and put alloys on it but I don't want to waste money getting lowering springs and 4 stud alloys because I won't be able to use them when I have a bigger engine. What's the best thing to do with my suspension and brakes now that I will also be able to use when I get my bigger engine?

I've seen other threads like this but about pre facelifts and I wasn't sure if it was the same for the facelift

Why can't you use four stud with a b16b?

I do.

The engine does t affect suspension etc.
Oh and b18 engines are easier and cheaper to source and the same size.

You will need bigger and better brakes mate. But nothing that isnt available in a 4x100 setup. Which is what you have. Your suspension wont change either. So you can confidently spend your cash setting up suspension and wheels the way you want. Be weary of your wheel choice though if your spending big money as some 15's wont clear bigger brake set ups.

Thanks for the help! So what suspension , brake set ups would u advise going with?

decent coil overs, and a set of 282mm fronts and 262 rears with a 1" master cylinder and the correct prop valve and your set.

Use the front brakes from a MGZR 160 or ZS180. This topic is probably one of the most common here and on civiclife, just google it

Drop me a PM when you want some discs and pads and I'll sort some out for a good price :)

I think i'm correct in saying if you have a late facelift which you do, you should already have same size brakes as an ek4 on the front but drums on the back instead of discs. I'm not 100% sure on that but just what I have read and been told before. I've used EBC black stuff on the front before with normal discs and it was pretty good.

As said above you can get bigger disks off an mg. OR you could get a hub setup off a DC2 or a EK9.

Also from what i've seen on here either coilovers are good but ek9 shocks with lower springs is a good setup for a daily driver.

I would stay away from EBC blacks if you do anything more than drive down to the shops. They're the bottom of the rung of compounds from EBC.

Was good for running about in an EJ9 from experience lol better than cheap crap anyways. Most people seem to go for ferodo pads for b-series cars.

I have a set of ek9 springs I bought for my ej9 facelift if you want them? They're on ebay just now with the starting bid at £60 or buy now for £85. Worth having a look at I never put them on because I'm selling the car soon so it's not worth me doing it anymore and they're in really good nick no rust or anything :)
