want to upgrade the brakes on my eg6 was thinking of buying a kit like d2 etc.

Any ideas whats a good upgrade and what are the d2's like?

I havnt set a budget but i couldnt afford anything over 1000 id say. Were sells brake kits for eg also need then to fit under 15" so is 286 the biggest?

I f you are so concerned with fitting brakes under 15', i say you go ahead and design your system around the EK9's. A fresh set of disks, calipers in good condition and uprated pads along with SS lines would be a relable setup. The EG civic is a light car and you don't need huge brakes to stop them.

Standard 15" wheels?
We've designed a kit that fits behind some 15" wheels. The usual thought behind brakes is the bigger they are, the quicker you stop no matter how light the car is

...The EG civic is a light car and you don't need huge brakes to stop them.

...your right you dont "need" big brakes to stop them, or any car truck or plane for that matter...its stopping efficiency or heat dissipation that larger brakes provide. Larger thicker disks up front dissipates heat over a larger area making them more effective/reliable over a smaller disk.

Car use/purpose dictates brake set-up in my world. Track cars would naturally have larger than stock brakes over a street only car.

Well my wheels are sw96 the 96 spec type r replicas.

My plan is to have a street/track car i do use it for some track days and my particular setup(standard) isnt good enough.

Was thinking of 6 pot D2's with 286 discs.

...be sure to upgrade your MC to a 1" MC if you have not already. Also, flush out your old brake fluid with performance fluid...not to mention the SS brake lines.

The D2 and similar 6 pots have very small pistons.
If you're wanting to spend IRO £1k on a brake kit, have you looked at the Wilwood Superlite kit I do with the 298.5x32mm 2 piece disks? There's a few people have these on DC2s and EK9s and find them a fantastic performance upgrade for track orientated cars. This kit is at least £150-£200 cheaper than the D2 setup.
