hi guys.. i got a eg 94 model with d15b engine(bought it second hand) i just want to ask for your opinions..

1st-2nd gear shifting is smooth but when i shift to 3rd gear specially during quick shift the tranny is like crunching even the clutch is floored, it feels like the gears are loose or something like that(i hope you get what im trying to mean). but when i try to drive and shift to 3rd gear and give the engine a little breath it sometimes enters 3rd gear smoothly..:angry2:
(i asked the previous owner about this and he gave me an answer about the "timing" and "synchronizer").

the rest of the gears are fine its the 3rd gear that is getting me nuts..

i have read here a while ago about a discussion that the 3rd gear is the first to give up in honda cars.(i forgot the thread title)

sorry for the long rant:D

so what things do i have to check?
what would be the worst thing i am going to expect?

sorry if i have to insert this one..i hope you wont mind.
is the clutch on eg's hard to step on? i mean on my clutch i know i am giving a bit more effort when im clutching.

thanks everyone and Godbless

most prob your syncro man.. might be worn out... they are usually the first to go on the cars as well as second gear. have your box checked out man. im pretty sure its your 3rd syncromesh. only way to find out is to pull the bix and have it checked.

Thanks for the info bro..ill be checking it ASAP..
By the way what would be the worst thing that I would expect regarding this problem of mine?

well if you say all the other gears are fine - from what i can think atm worst cast scenario is the syncro gear etc - may need to get a new syncro set/ or for the 3rd gear at least..(usually advisable to get them all done at the same time but not really needed if the others are fine.) possibly a bearing or two as well but by the sounds of it, just the 3rd gear selector and syncro etc.

thanks bro...i just found that it is indeed the 3rd gear syncro that has worn out.

good stuff - good luck with the repairs - hope all goes well.
