Hi I've got a boosted b18c4 and soon want to start building a forged engine for higher bhp figures. I just want to know what the differences are between the engines and blocks as the c6 engine is £1000 more expensive and like to know why.

Would they both be the same if where both overbored with the same forged pistons and rods and same head work, ie porting and polishing?

Eventually I'd like 500bhp so wanna build a good strong engine strong enough to take high boost.

Thanks simon

Not sure where your finding c6's £1000 more?
Wouldn't go by eBay as those engines hardly ever sell.
Sold my engine to a member on here for £900. That's head, block and sump.

Not a brand price yeah eBay dc2 lumps are going £1500, while c4s going £400 - £500

The c4 comes out of the mb6 civic and the c6 comes out of a uk dc2 type r. Theres your answer. A simple google search will show you all you need to know about both engines.

That's not what I'm asking I wanna know if I fitted forged pistons, rods and both had the same head work done. Would there be any difference in compression or bhp ect.

Is the b18c6 worth more money if going for turbo.

Not sure if this is any help..

Honda Civic Type R (EK9) : Cars : Is it a boat?

edit:
Personally, I see them being the same blocks (different codes to signify different internals used). If you're planning on going high comp with it - why do the internals matter to you? Bit confusing with the original q

Not going hi comp quite the opposite I'm going low comp for turbo all I wanna know if the dc2 engine is better or have any better parts ie crank or head ect over a b18c4.

Surely if both a c4 and c6 was fitted with same low comp pistons, rods and any head work they would be identical. Therefore the cheaper c4 is the better option.

I just wanna know as a bare long block is there any difference between to 2 if both had same forged internals.

Would c6 head or crank be better over the c4?

c6 crank is heavier with beefier counterweights and is better suited for high rpms iirc

So would the c6 be the better option?

Surely the lighter the crank the better as less weight for the engine to spin.

Also is there any difference between the heads?

Appreciate the help wanna make sure I get all the information to build the best engine I can.

Ok what's the difference between the c4 and c6 heads I take it there a straight swap ect.

Any ideas on price for a c6 head

Thanks

C4 block is the same. That's about it. C6 is far superior as a stock engine in na format.

There is quite a difference in the heads to a search there is a whole thread about it.

C4 is the best option for boost. Cheaper to source and replace. Especially as your forging, you will be replacing most of what makes a c6 special. Would even say the c4 cams would be more suited to boost having less overlap giving better low spool and wider torque curve.
