i just bought an ek9 and apparently it still has the 112mph restrictor on it,
someone sed 2 me that all you have to do is change the clock from kph - mph but this has been done. so i was wondering if it would still be restricted and if any1 knew how to derestrict a b16b or hav any usfull info. cheers

How has your speedo been converted? If it's been done electronically before the ECU (converter wired to speed sensor on top of gearbox) then this should theoretically move the new limit to 180mph, effectively de-restricting it as you shouldn't be hitting 180mph in an EK9!

Have you tested to see if the speed limiter is still in place? (may go off the clock a little before you feel it if it still reads kmh. If it's readin mph and hits the limiter then the converter location may need to be changed. I fitted my own to the speed sensor on my gearbox and it worked a treat.

Correct me if i'm wrong anyone?

timi is pretty much correct . some people often jus wire in the converter to the back of the speedo head and this converts to mph but doesnt take the limiter off . any time i do them i wire the converter into the loom just before the VSS plug that goes onto the gearbox this then converts it into mph and also remove the speed limiter

i just bought it and i am not shure how he has done it but i will see if the limiter kicks in 2night.
if it does i will have a look at the convertor location

cheers guys

gave it a blast last night and yeah its deffo still restricted.
is it an easy job to change the convertor location or is it not to bad? and any tips on wat a need and wat a need 2 do? cheers

if u take the instrument cluster out (very easy job) and there should be a little black box behind there with 4 wires coming out of it . if u PM me what colours they are i will send u a guide on how to change it over .

Just wondering what kind of noise does it make when you get to the limiter? what speed does your speedo say? and what revs are you at thanks :)

it sits at 112mph and dosent move that was in 4th it doesent sound any different rili obv its at hi rpm but nothin unusual. diddn't rili check the revs but i wud say about 8,000 - 8,500

left you a pm sayin what colours the wires were they are white, red, black and yellow :) cheers :nice:

sorry to re-ignite this but how would you get rid of the restricter on an ek9 if you were keepin the kilometer speedo and not converting to the miles per hour one as i am in ireland !:)
