Okay, I've had a look about online for quite some time now and I really want an ek9 for my next car since I've waited patiently. Thing is, I feel they are far too expensive for what they are the cheapest I saw was 5k and the CTR below it was the ep3 with less miles, is obviously newer less rust etc. and looked in mint condition. I was thinking of giving the 9 another year so I can reduce my NCB which will obviously help but still wanting a type R.

I then looked into dc2's and noticed they're far cheaper. I was seeing the price range of 3,000-8,000+ so that itself helped me out just seeing that there was at least ones going for that cheap.

Now that I've said this, I want all the people who have insured either or both, to give us a bit of advice to a guy who's soon to be 21 with 2 years NCB on what would be better off and also what insurance company would be most recommended as Aviva are absolutely terrible for me.

Thanks,

Dev.

the ep3 are cheaper to insure than the ek9 and dc2, at 21 none are going to be cheap to insure though.

TBH I don't think the price difference between DC2s and EK9s is not as big as it used to be, you can get an EK9 below 4k relatively easily these days. I am insured with Adrian Flux, always worth giving them a call. You will however have the same problem I have - living in Glasgow. Most of Glasgow is seen as risky by insurance companies and this drives the price thru the roof, you can check your postcode here:

Car Insurance Postcode Groups - Postcode as rated by Car Insurers

Just to give you an idea: I'm 28, 3 years NCB, been driving for 9 years and I'm paying £1200 a year! When I spoke to the lovely lady @ Adrian Flux she said had I lived on Skye I would probably pay half of that!

Edit:
BTW, the ''Refer'' in the list - which also happens to cover most of Glasgow - really means it is so bad the insurance company may not want to insure you at all!

either way i dont think it will be cheeper for your age.

i would admit mine is heavily modified but im 30 with 13 years ncb, never made a claim and i pay £870 comp

My insurance company "GreenLight" wont even insure dc2's, or s13/14/15's they said they are to risky

Wow i just looked at that postcode insurance thing.

mon to fri my car is at RAF Wittering PE8 Catergory A

Weekends it is at my house in Romford RM11 Catergory E !!!!

I think i will be changing my address!!!

Thanks guys, was just wanting a good piece of info so I know what to do for my next step really.

Sky wouldn't even give me a quote on my dc2 until i was 24! was a joke, ended up going with churchill for £1500fullycomp, that was at 21 with 1 years NCB 4 years driving.

We've had a handful of very high value claims for under 22 years olds driving DC2's so we've tightened up our criteria. We will look at 21+ years old with good level of NCB and at least 1 years claim free ownership of the DC2.

I'm 20 and i was £1300 a year for an ek9, that was me with 2 years NCB and living in Motherwell (Car parked in drive)

Oh, it was with Admiral.

Come to ireland and buy one..you boys in uk are crazy with the prices of cars and parts...go on donedeal.ie and look how cheap we are to you..

Cheers sparkey that helped me a lot, even though it's still hard to get a good quote even still.
