DC2 Airbox + Spoon Filter - Opinions please

Hi,

I have a EK4 [VTI, B16A2], and decided to go with the DC2 airbox and DC2 Spoon drop in filter combo, as it appears to be the best compromise between budget and performance.

Im going to remove my resonator, so that the DC2 airbox can get the cold air from the space in the wheel arch, may possibly have a cold air feed, so it resembles the mugen intake, but diy style.

I wanted to get some opinions from other people who have this set up on their B16A or B16B's.

Whats the throttle response like? Any better than the OEM airbox + filter?

Inreased induction noise? More noticeable vtec crossover than OEM?

The main one, any noticeable difference in power? I know its only going to be marginal, but have you noticed better peformance from this over OEM? Is the extra power more noticeable in low/mid/high rpms?

As the Spoon filter seems to be the popular choice, does anyone recommend an alternative drop in filter for the DC2 airbox?

Thanks

When i put a spoon filter in my DC2, it was useless:shocked: No more power. Loss of midrange, No increase in induction noise, but more loud & annoying throttle body "whistle"

Might be different if you mess around with resonators perhaps, but as a like for like replacement with the OEM filter i found it a major disappointment..as well as expensive:angry:

My recommendation would be to try a stock DC2 filter in there...there was night & day difference when i put mine back in. They are only cheap to pick up too:nice:

Ok, when you replaced the filter with the Spoon one, did you still have your resonator in place?

Did you try it with and without the resonator to see if it made any different?

Spoon air filters are nothing worth shouting about. It's kinda like buying their carbon direct flow pipe. just get the stock filter.

the dc2 airbox is a good upgrade, however, the spoon filter will not do much more than a normal filter except burn a 110 quid hole in your pocket. I got a hamp filter for my dc2 airbox which will do the job just as well for 25 quid ;)
