I have a EJ9 with a B18C-R in it, and looking for a mugen airbox, but some people have said I need to look out for a EK9 airbox as the DC2 mugen airboxes don't fit into a EK engine bay?

Can anyone clarify?

Cheers

An oem dc2 air box fits perfectly in an ek, so I shouldn't see why not.

Like the brackets and stuff, would it line up and be steady, not move about.

there is a how to guide to fitting a dc2 airbox into an EK on here somewhere

with a good filter in the dc2 box you have a very good intake for small moneys

DC2 airbox is a great upgrade for the EK, as I have just fitted one to mine. If you can afford a Mugen, then go for that as it is an awesome piece of kit. To fit the DC2 airbox new brackets had to be made and a bit of cutting was needed. So for a mugen box I would say some work will be needed to fit different mounting points.

Good info did not know this where do u put the brackets for dc2 box mine kinda comes out the side

I got aem v2 on my ek9 but its a dc2 fitment and that's fits but a little tight if that's any help

Hi, I have a 99 ek9, which I have not long owned, it has a jdm b18c inside, the last owner never had it mapped, so the first thing I did was purchase an aem ecu, and had it mapped, the mapper renowned advanced motorsport in Silverstone said that the only thing strangling the power was the dc2 airbox, the car has a straight through exhaust and manifold with a dc2 airbox which has a modified cold air feed, he said I would get more power from a standard ek9 airbox with modified cold air feed. Even though it has the dc2 b18, he showed me the difference between the ek9 and dc2 airbox, after which I could see what he was taking about.

Dc2 box with K&N drop in is where its at, best bang for the buck!

Mugen, or Comptech yield the best results.

ARC is the biggest heat-soaking crap ever, every car I know with one has lost power. **** filter, poor craftsmanship, just overpriced hyped jdm rubbish.

No wonder they went belly up!

is the dc2 a bigger filter or just the design that makes them popular?

might look into this for my eg6, my spoon panel filter is way too quiet! cant even hear the vtec crossover but the 'smoothness' of the crossover is great and im guessing thats what it was made for. I need noise and smoothness, not just one :p

The ek9 box has a panel filter, which by design is inferior to the 'cylinder' type filter in the Dc2.

Also, get rid of that crap Spoon foam filter!
