The E-Brake [emergency brake] light takes a long time to turn off, like 30 minutes long but eventually turns off. This happens in the morning and not much more making it difficult to locate the issue.

My thinking is that the E-Brake switch may be faulty? Thoughts anyone?

Also, where is the switch located?

Thank you in advance.

:)

the handbrake switch is underneath the lever in the cabin. nut sure why it woud stay on and then go off after 30mins though.

Thanks buddy. The switch might be faulty and once it warms up with the cabin heater on it expands and makes the connection complete; well is my thinking on the issue. Replacing the switch seems easy. Or maybe it just needs to be adjusted? I will find out.

Id say its more likley the brake fluid float-sensor at fault than your hand brake sensor mate.

You tryed checking the float in the resovair to see if its clean etc?

ill take a look Ellis, last I checked, it was as clean as a baby's behind.

Remember it only happens when cold, first start up in the morning, nothing until the next day.

Yeah i know you track often so i would imagine you keep on top of your fluid.

I only suggested that as i have seen the fault on other cars and has been the sensor in the tank, the handbrake sensors are very simple and straight foreward in design they usualy work or dont if you get me.

Hope you get it dealt with anyways :nice:

+rep'ed buddy! Thank you.

I have the same problem the last 2-3 months. I just full up the oil and move manual the sensor 2-3 times. never have a problem again/ if you still have a problem then I think is the sensor.

I checked the brake fluid float, which again is as clean as a bell, fiddled with it for a second and reinstalled it. Nothing seemed out of place and working properly. This morning when I fired it up, NO BRAKE LIGHT> :)

Thanks Ellis. :nice:

Its back...what is it in the float that is causing the dash light to turn on?

I kinda have the same problem, my e-brake light comes on during hard acceleration and goes off when i let go of the throttle and drive moderate ..

Sorry for OT, just wondering!

Check your brake fluid level, it probably just got a bit low due to compensation for pad wear and now when you accelerate it shifts around the reservoir and the float sensor shows there's not enough brake fluid ;)

when the brake light is on bypass the handbrake switch,if it stays on the handbrake switch is the problem, if not i,d try replacing the float!
