helo guys i'm new here
nice to meet u all

i duno where else i can ask this so i try my luck here altho i'm not driving an ek9 or even a door 2k

i'm from malaysia and i just got myself a 4door sedan civic EJ, with engine transplant from EK4 B16A
now i need a new set of coilover
and i decided to get a new set of D2 Racing
http://www.d2racingsport.com

they provide diff spring rate to choose from for both front and rear
so i'm wondering wat spring rate i shud match for my 4doors EJ?
its a daily car but more into street performance and weekend track day :naughty:

Track duty plus street? I would go with 10k front 12k rear.
i tot normally the spring rate at front will be higher than the rear one?
which i refer to tein monoflex they match 10k front and 6k rear for both ek4 and ek9

10k front 12k rear? jesus christ, that'll be bone jarring on the road, well, if they're anything like uk roads :p

usual on d2's whilst remaining comfortable (reasonably) is 8k front / 6k rear, i believe thats the standard springs. you could go 10k/8k if they offer them, as that's slightly stiffer ofcourse, however it may end up too stiff for the road tbh.

a friend of mine has 8k/6k d2's on his EK4 and it is very quick, awesome handling, whilst also being drivable on the road. It'll also outhandle most things on the track, so i can't see how it could be any better with stiffer springs.
I'd recommend fitting stiffer/thicker ARB's, as that'll make a big difference, EK9 arbs are thicker so find some of them if you can.

ytd just found out dealer here dun offer diff spring rate to choose
they ordered it wif prefix spring rate directly from taiwan in a set
and i just got myself a frt 12kg rr 10.5kg D2 racing
hope it is not too stiff.....:)

Malaysian roads are pretty good, kind of like Japan, as far as I have seen. So you should be OK with stiffer springs, but 12f 10.5r really isn't that stiff.
And once you go to the track and see/feel what the really fast people are using, one has a tendency to put street comfort as a lower priority.

The reason I recommended stiffer in the rear is because you put emphasis on weekend track days. FWD cars have the characteristic of understeer when the front springs are stiffer than the rears. With stiffer rear springs, the car becomes rear biased which gives better control around the track.
You can't really steer an understeering car, but you can steer and control an oversteering car.
Also, with stiffer springs, you can lower the car (and thus, your center of gravity) more without bottoming out. This reduces weight transfer, a real enemy at the track.
So Kaito, use your new coilovers at the track and test it out, see how you like it. Through experience you'll find what you prefer.

Ecksjay, It may be tough to swallow, but there are better handling coilover setups than 8k-f 6k-r D2's.
