Hello all,

My ek9 has a standard gearbox with a cusco LSD fitted, I recently got my car back from the bodyshop after bein away with work for 5 weeks ( as you can imagine the car hadn't moved much) after running the car all day to "stretch it's legs" I noticed that my LSD started to make a really loud popping noise, and if I'm turning the steering wheel at 90 degrees or more it's incredibly loud and the car starts to judder.
My gearbox oil was change around 9 months ago..I would have thought this would provide suitable lubrication or is it something else? Almost sounds like the LSD is eating away at itself.
And obviously The car hasn't moved off the driveway since Saturday.

Any help appreciated, thanks.

Your going to have to take a look inside there

Drain the oil and see if any shavings come out

if it is like my KAAZ diff then you will need to change the oil, mine starts to clonk around every 9-12 months, and fresh KAAZ 80W90 always sorts the old girl out.

you got to remember these diffs are normally in race cars and i bet they change there oil every race.

if it was chewing some thing up it would heat up and you would smell that distinctive smell of gear box oil which smells just like gas from an oven, i know this as my lay shaft and bearings got chewed up and it let out a right old pong

Thanks guys. I'll definitely drain it and have a look of any shavings etc. And yeah it's been around 9+months since it was done and I've done the most driving in the car since I've had it recently.
