so i recently bought 1990 crx, iv had a few issues but nothing a couldnt sort myself, how ever iv found out the sun roof blank had a small leak, so stripped all the sealant off it to re-do it all from scatch as it was far from tidy, in doing so iv realized that it was a blind cowboy thats done the job, its a carbon fibreworcks plate thats been put into the window seal and then tiger sealed in place with alot more than was needed, but was done so bad it still leaked....:/

i dnt really want to be buying another panel as the panel itself is fine, but does anyone know a better way of securing the panel in place, it has no lip or tabs on it, just squeezes into the gap? dont mind what it looks like on the inside as the cars stripped anyway, but want it to look half decent on the out side

The fibreworks blanks are awful I'd ditch that if I where you mine leaked also and I plastered it! Better with a rivet on one! Problem with fibreworks is that it can move about inside the hole so wears out the sealer!

awww man :( the seal is pretty worn out tbh..the underside of its solid filled with silicone so its a mess, cheers mate, u know any plce in the uk that does a good blank?

Back yard civics make them come pre drilled ect @calumuir13 has one fitted! I tried to seal mine countless times and all failed

nice, aww i thought calum just used a plate for his, will look into one soon as a can :D thanks for the help btw mate

I just pop riveted an alloy sheet to my roof. Never leaked once

wat did u use round the edge of the sheet mate ?

Rivet on one is the way to go lyk, sit it where you want it, mark the corners, drill them out, lift the blank up, go round the edge with silicone, sit the blank back ontop of the sealant lining up the holes, rivet them then go daft with the drill and rivit gun before the sealant sets, let the sealant dry then cut off the excess with a blade

Just some rubber edging i had lying about. Finished it of nicely. Also the way i fitted it, i never drilled the roof skin. So i "could" have went back to sunroof if i wanted.

aww kk, good plan, i dont really want to be drillin the roof skin either thats why i dnt really want to plate it, took the sunroof panel out today, the seal that was round it is just a mess with silicone from whoever fitted it, and when the panel is fitted flush at one side and the middle..it sits low on the other side so its no a very good fit at all :( but im gona get some steel brackets made up and see if i cant get it to sit any better before i go n buy a plate
