cost of stem seal replacement

hey guys think i may need valve stem seals replaced on my ek9 soon. was just wondering what would a fair price be to get this done ?

It can be done without taking the head off

Yeh i know bud. I bought car as a project and the boy that had it was a fool so thinking of just getting head took off and doing all gaskets for piece of mind

Ah right I see mate I wasn't sure if you wanted the head off or not. Yeah that would be best remember to get the genuine honda top end gasket set. I work in a engine machine shop I think we charge between £150 to £200 then your seals on top of that another £30 all depends what you want do while its off and apart dude

Its going in on monday for 200 so seems fair and i bought full gasket set from japserviceparts. Thanks for your help

Did you replace head bolts aswell or use your old ones mate?

Mine is beginning to smoke a fair amount now on vtec so im guessing its stem seals, hopefully rings wont need done but I believe if rings were an issue it wouldnt just smoke on vtec?

Turns out its my rings that need done so trying to get engine rebuilt. Im not a mechanic but from what i have learned if it smokes on acceleration its rings or pistons. If it smokes on deceleration its stem seals and on vtech might be lma's. Other members will know alot more than me on the subject though
