Will a 2000 Civic Si wiring harness/ECU work with a b16b? Im trying to get a chipped ECU for the swap if I do it. But for the time being, will it be ok?

I think that the wiring arness yes, but the ecu no, you will have to buy the b16b with the ecu, since the fuel maps and other configuration is different!

For how much you can get the b16b ecu ?

Because if the price is 900 $ or above, i recommend you a apexi power fc + commander! you can buy it on ebay for 1300 $ for 99 - 00 and for 700 $ for 97 - 98 civics!

With this tool you can "tune" your motor, if you have access to a dyno, you will find it very usefull.

Id have to search around a bit. I'd like to get a street tuned ECU but I dont really plan on modifying the motor THAT much...Minor mods. Bolt ons. But if the ECU is close to that price, I dont see why I shouldnt just get the APEX-i. Since my car has to be pluged up to a machine and tested for emissions and stuff through the OBD-II port under the dash, how will the APEX-i work with that? Will it still read as a stock ECU would?

Yes you can have different fuel maps / vtec point, i'm not sure you will pass the emission tests, in my country we dont have to worry about that :)

Its not like that every where here, only in the states that have a certain population or higher...

i would suggest spoon / mugen computer, but if you have the money apexi power fc + commander :p

Those are so hard to come by though. Ill definately try.

What engine mods you got? ;)

JDM b16a, 170hp
Gsr b18c1 Cams
AEM cam gears, tuned for the cams
Intake
4-2-1 header
Magnaflow racing Catalytic converter
2 1/4 inch full exhaust
ported/polished head
Stage 2 clutch
B&M Short Throw Shifter
OBD-1 p30 Chipped ECU
Prothane Motor mount Inserts

It feels just slighty weaker than my old LS/VTEC motor. Maybe low 14's in the quarter mile.

It spinns through 1st and 2nd gear, chirps third a few times and grabs hard and PULLS!!!

I managed to pick up a OBD2B EK9 ECU from ebay for £51 (about $80-90) a few months back, im currently running that wiht my conversion - works well :)

But as soon as funds allow ill be opting for a Power-FC, but then emmission laws arent as stringent over here as i guess they can be in the states.

OBD2B EK9 ecu is the 99-00 EK9 one right? :D

My car kills the Integra GSR and other CIVIC SI's around home, its no contest, if I had to guess, in a straight line I'd beat a CTR. But on a road course....no way, the CTR would DESTROY ME!!

aye thats right :)

Ive only had a "play" with a mate who has an EK9 on street, i beat them but it wasnt too easy lol i would guess on track it would be a lot closer tho, as the ek9 has a seriously very well set up chassis and suspension.

Yeah like i said, On a course, like the ring or something, Id get monkey stomped, but in a straight line, I hold my own pretty well.

Yes, its almost perfect, too bad it didnt came with a b18c :) I did some research, and in japan, they put 16" rims on the front and 15" rims on the rear, because the ek9 tends to oversteer, do you know anything about this ?

Also... do you know why the apexi power fc its more expensive for the 99-00 ek9 than 97-98 ? i see them on ebay for like 680 $ for the 97-98 ek9, and for the 99-00 one, its like 1350 $

cheers :)

I dont think they staggered the wheel sizes form oem, i think rvm means that owners put 16's on the front for use, as far as i know they only ever came with the standard 7 spoke 15's from the factory.

A freind of mine (with an EG5 B18C swap) was talking to me about putting 16's on the front and 15's on the back - but i wasnt paying much attention at the time (as i was working on our cars), ill have to ask him about it.

As for the Power FC prices - i hadnt knowticed any differance in prices - off to go hunting now :)
