Does anyone know what sort of paste this is as I need to replace some on my ek9?

Seam sealer mate :)

You cant get brush on stuff from halfords
U-Pol Grey Stripe
 
This has been sprayed on though. Brush won`t give remotely same result, in case you mind about factory appearance.
 
You can buy the seam sealer for a caulking gun , works much better , neater , factory look
