hi to all vtec and ek owners,i m having a problem of changing gears during high rpm especially during the vtec kicks in, there's a crack sound when i change from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th its hard 2 change it sometimes.I believe some of u haf experience the same problem like me.I haf change the gear oil every 30,000km but the prob still remain.Is there any solution to solve this problem?i afraid it will damage the gearbox..
You can try using a different fluid and it is recommended to change the fluid every second ENGINE oil change. Basically half the mileage that you are doing now. While the owners manual may state a much longer interval, they don't take into account that EK9 owners tend to enjoy vtec and spirited driving a lot more than normal.
It may already be too late and you might have to save up for some syncros and sleeves to be replaced and whatever else may be worn upon inspection and disassembly.
