I'm taking my DC2 on a trackday soon and the previous owner has been running Castrol Magnatec 10w40 (part synthetic) in the engine. Now my oil level is currently at about 3/4 and I dont have enough spare to top it up to full...theres only about 1,800 miles on the current oil and it looks good.

If I'm going to use the same oil on track I'll need to buy another small bottle to top up with, or if I chose to change the oil is there much difference to using a semi-synth compared to a fully synthetic oil?

General rule of thumb is don't mix semi and fully. If your for a track day I would buy a couple of 1 litre top ups of the same oil just in case it burns a bit.

If you buy a good quality fully synthetic oil it will preform better under track conditions. Something like Motul or Millers oil.

We also recommend running a dc2 on 5w 40 fully synthetic, it gives a better protection for the engine.

^ This, I used to use Castrol Magnatec 10W-40 fully synth in my EK4 when I first had it but it kept burning off ridiculously quick. After I went on a 900 mile round trip to Le Mans and it went from full when we set off to empty when we arrived and then the same again on the way back, I decided to swap to Motul X-cess 5W-40 fully synth and have been running that for over a year now and it hardly burns at all. It may just be that Motul stuff is better than Castrol, but I've always been advised to run 5W-40. Personally I would change before you go on track

Think the way I worded my post wasnt too clear, I wouldnt mix two different oils together I was just looking at maybe using semi synthetic instead of fully synthetic with more regular changes
I had a look on the itr-dc2 forum and I'm going with 5w40 Fuchs Pro S

I think that will be a good choice :). Unless the cars always been run on fully synth then the benefits of switching to it will probably be negligible tbh so I wouldn't worry about it too much, the quality of the oil is much more important

I found the same with Castrol. It always seemed to burn away. The pro is great oil but unless you intend to track the car a lot I don't think it's worth the extra price tag. This is only my opinion of course.
