I have a b16b in a 2000 civic. My car suddenly won't turn on. I was driving put the car to sleep for the night wake up the next day try to turn it on hut won't it cranks/ turnover just won't turn on. I am getting spark my fuel pump is priming. The car does turn on when it is push started and will turn off and back on once it be on for a bit. Wondering what's going on why won't it start with key?????

mate i have the same problem with mine, when its cold i just here this clicking noise coming frm engine but no start. got it checked out by icetronix and ste there just told me to stick key into ignition turn it without trying to start car, turn back and then turn one more time without trying to start then start the car as normal, this preps engine twice and my car starts no problem hope this helps

Sticky starter solenoid.. , try starting it with the key and have a friend or yourself hit the solenoid attached to the starter and see if it starts

EDIT: If it cranks over but is weak you need to check the battery , do a load test , check earths and check voltage drop through the starter circuit.

...its the starter or the battery, or both. I would start by getting a new battery.

i dont think its the battery when i turn the key it cranks and will stay cranking until i let go but i will check it out thanks

When you push start it and get it started; while the engine is running, is your ALT providing a positive charge??

...weird issue here.
you can get it started when you push start it, but can not jump start it nor will it turn over when only using your battery...AND you have checked your starter and all ground connections...this is all correct?

Do you have car alarm or immobilizer? If it cranks but does not start and there is spark and fuel most likely it is an immobilizer problem

I do have an alarm Clifford g5..... its not working right now tho is it possible to just take off the alarm and hopefully that's fix it

If there is spark and fuel present it isnt immobilized. Its hard to diagnose a problem like this over the net , you should bring it to a mechanic you trust and let him go at it because their is so many variables

All my connection are good alt does provide positive charge.... car does turnover with key just not on

I agree, fuel and spark but it will not light up unless its push stated...does not make logic to me.

sounds like its flooded...but too hard to get to a solution without me actually there.
