have you lapped in the valves properly?? also valve clearances could be too tight causing valves to be slighty open causing a lack of compression??? did you turn the engine over with the plugs out and plug leads off while distrubutor is still fitted as this will wreak the ignitor in the distrubutor???

Check your compression with a tester if you can

Do a compression test mate.

The valves need to be lapped properly though first as far as im aware if its all been out.

I know it sounds silly but are all the plugs, leads and distributor OK? Clearances on the plugs all fine?

Is it actually turning over at all and trying to fire?

im not to sure about the plugs, but the rest is ok, and its turning over but sounds like engine have hard to turn, but that might be the battery, i'll check the compression, what should be the proper compression ?

Not too sure really, usually just look for them being the same (unless absurdly low), I'd guess ~160-200 across the board. Obviously make sure they're all pretty much the same. If the valve lapping/clearences are the problem I'd expect to see low compression over all 4

You checked all the earths?
enough battery power?
immobiliser?
is the fuel pump priming?
is there a spark?

so i gonna check all of that str8 in the morning.
earths-ok
immobiliser- not in that car :)
fuel pump -ok
spark- didnt check, but was ok before.

and its not leakdown test to check the valves ?

Get a compression test done first, no need for a leakdown just yet, and then if you have a problem with compression you can do leakdown test to determine why or more, where. Whether it be the valve clearences/lapping or perhaps bad head gasket fitment etc

Hopefully it's just a connector you've missed somewhere, rather than a mechnical problem! See if you have a spark before you do anything, as it could just be something you've connected incorrectly...there's a lot of stuff to plug in when you put a new head on

hth

i'll do as u say :)
all connectors r defo connected, but im gonna check all of that again, so i better go bed now to have some more power for the morning lol :D
i hope it's nothing serious

I have had similar problem this week , it may not be the answer but its worth a try so here goes, i had had the rocker cover off to strip the paint off it, when i put it bk to gether it didnt start, the earth wire to top of rocker cover needed movin to the bolt for the spark plug cover. very strange all conections were clean but didnt work ther any more.thats were it was fixed b4 but nolonger worked!?! my not be your problem but worth a try.

problem sorted, the distributor was 180 degrees turn. happy days, thanks all for help :D
