Had to make up new brake pipes as I removed my abs, just wondering does it make a difference if the ends are flared or double flared?

The flaring tool I was using I was only able to single flare the ends but looking at the original ends they look to be double flared.

The brakes have been bleed and theres no leaks.

Will it be ok?

Thanks.

I think they need to be double flared to be strong enough under braking as a single flare could cause them to pop off? (awaits stevenek9 and others...)

Right after a quick read through that link on honda-tech it seems that the ends need to be double flarred at 45 degrees... looks like ill have to make up new brake lines which is going to be a c**t as the engine is in now.

Was thinking of 2 solutions...

1. get braided lines made up, as they would be easier to be installed but costly. Would there be any disadvantages of running full braided lines?

2. Buy oem brake pipes of a non abs civic, but would the front brake pipes from a 1.4 civic without abs be the same shape to fit into my ek9 with a 40/40 prop valve?

You should be able to order the non abs ek civic hard pipes from Honda and they should work fine. Probably your best option

full braided lines instead of the copper lines will introduce a more spongey feel to the system as flexi lines even when braided will allow some amount of swelling under presure, could be a problem come mot time aswell.
pipes are only double flared to prevent cracks forming from the stress of the flaring process, not to hard to make them with the right tool

Yea thats wat i was thinking, its just getting the brake pipe numbers to get them ordered through honda.

Nothing wrong with running braided lines through a car.

You just have to make sure they are well P clipped along their length to stop them trying to straighten out under pressure. This is where the spongy pedal feel comes from, not from the lines swelling.

But yeh would cost a fair bit, I know!
