Bogging down

I've tried searching and can't seem to find any answers.

I seem to get a bogging down issue at 3000rpm when the car is warm (very noticeable in traffic) and you try and accelerate hard it feels like you're suddenly in too high a gear (even in 1st) and the car just doesn't want to seem to move. It's been especially bad lately and and couple of times when pulling out of junctions the car had felt like I've set off in 3rd. Once you go past 3000 it seems to feel ok.

When it's bogging the car feels a bit jerky and the acceleration is not smooth.

The car pulls fine at the top end, vtec's perfectly etc, give it the beans and keep it above 3000 and you'd not know any different.

I'm not sure if it's just a case of the IAT getting too hot from the block when sat in traffice or something more.

Any suggestions would be great!

Replace OR clean out your IACV intake air control valve.

This is a common issue.

I'll have to have a look at it over the weekend.

Though I must say I've not been having any idle issues, would you still say its the cause?

its possible yes, and still have good idle. im speaking from experience.
My solution was to replace it, problem is gone for over 2 years now.

Well as I've just been bored so went for a 20 mile drive I can safely say that it must be temp related as it was hesitation free all the way. My car must not like sitting in traffic.

Still may look at the IACV at some point though don't wanna end up causing more issues if it's ok ain't broke don't fix etc etc

yup, the iacv is temperature controlled via engine coolant.

Sounds like you need to clean it, it may be getting stuck with dirt and grime within it. Easy to clean and test.

If the idle control system is not operating correctly, many driveability symptoms can occur, some of which are:

Idle RPM too high
Idle fluctuating wildly
Idle RPM too low and/or erratic
Idle fluctuating when loads occur to the engine
Fast idle too low for cold starts

Well from reading that thread I'd disagree:

"The IAC valve is supplied heated water, via two small coolant hoses, to keep the valve from developing ice during cold operation. The IAC valve is not sensitive to the temperature increase from the heated water. The position of the IAC valve's plunger is totally dependent upon the amount of time the ground is on, which is controlled by the ECM."

After reading all that I can't see how the IACV would cause the engine to bog down on WOT?

Put this last on your list of things to try then! or not on the list at all!
:)
After-all, who am I to try and help?
:))

I wasn't having a go mate, I just don't want to mess with things that ain't showing other signs of failing, plus that link helped explain a lot so please don't think I was doubting you :(

I didn't get a chance to look at it this weekend but it's something I'll consider. I think the issue is more fuelling related due to the intake manifold heating up and throwing the iat sensor readings out of whack.

It was a bit cooler today and it didn't seem to bog at all despite sitting in the same traffic jam just as long as I normally do.
