BLiTZ's 1998 EK9 Facelift Lightweight

Yeah it was a great find (by my mate) I've always wanted one and it was only recently that I worked out how to get round the km/h - mph thing and I'm so chuffed that I've got it to work!

Right well after a bit of cutting, hammering, bending, filing, sanding and spraying I've managed to achieve what I wanted :) a relatively simple bracket that mounts to the ash tray mounting point. The paint isn't great as I ended up having to make some last minute adjustments but TBH you can't see it sufficiently enough to warrant stripping it back and painting it again.

Well, enough chat, pics:

nice bit of modding there. Looks quite subtle indeed!!! Fair play.

Had the car dyno'd today at TDi North. It made 184.9BHP @ 8206rpm and 121lbft @ 7462rpm. Whilst I'm glad it made more than standard I was expecting a wee bit more.

Current spec:

Fujitsubo Legalis R Catback
Fujitsubo Super Ex Manifold
Spoon Elbow
HKS panel filter and both resonators deleted

I'm not sure if I'm just being greedy of if this is the best you can expect with the spec and Shell Vpower but if any more experienced members can shed some light I'd be happy to hear from you.

I would have said those figures are about right buddy.
with power lost over time and the mods you have to gain them back.
what sort of power you after?

Well that was my thinking but after seeing my mate's Yaris Tsport gain 15bhp with a manifold, exhaust and panel filter I was kind of hoping for 190ish

But the curve looks good to me (not that I'm an expert so if anyone can see anywhere that improvements could be made that would be a help) smooth and no obvious drops in power.

The yaris manifold could have been alot more restrictive compaired to the ek9 manifold both in stanard trim. hence a bigger gain. Curve does look nice and healthy though :)

I was bored the other night and had a few pennies burning a hole in my pocket so I fired up eBay and ordered a new air filter. Mine didn't look too bad but I'd know idea how long it had been on the car before it came over so a replacement seemed like a good plan.

New Vs. Old:

Doesn't look to bad, the foam just looks a little dull, flip em over to the exterior side and I can safely say it was due a replacement:

Whilst I had the Air Box in pieces I decided to give it a good clean out and was greated with all this ****:

It seems the 9 likes to eat wasps, there were the remains of at least 3 in there:

I'm not sure what all that white foam stuff does, I assumed sound deadening so since it was full of **** I removed it (accidently as I tried to remove it gently to clean but snapped one of the pins, so snapped the other 4 and ****ed it off) If anyone actually knows what it does then I'd be interested to hear.

Ckeeky pics of the spoon elbow:

Well it's sunny out so I'm off to go and waste a few hours washing the car.

Bit of a cleaning sesh, tried out a clay kit on the boot lid which was good so will do the rest at some point. took the bumper off to clean the exhaust which didn't come up too great tbh but the bits you can see looks good. The rear brace could do with some work so that will be a project for the summer.

Met up with Webbie today to collect my GT5 plates from him. Had a good chat and I'm very jealous of his brand new rocker cover which makes mine look incredibly tired.

His car is very clean and makes mine look so low in comparison lol

In other news I've discovered my car's ELD, today must have been the first day I've ever driven it (since fitting the RSM) with none of the electrics on and was shocked to see the voltage keep dropping to 12.6v! After a few Google searches I see this is normal and is a 'feature' rather than a fault.
