so started by the engine on Saturday night when a got back got from being away, hadn't been running for 2 weeks. started ok but had to keep revs up as it would have cut out if didn't, then once the revs were stable for 10 minutes of running it idled at 1k rpm, so i went in the house for 2 minutes and came out to it not running. tried starting it again but joy. its getting fuel and compression is there.. so must be spark right, distributor problems ? do they just go like that or am i missing something ?

also checked all fuses are ok.
fuel pump primes.
it turnovers like a wants to start.
all earthing points look ok.
timing is spot on.
has plenty of fuel.
checked the dizzy cap look fine.

although i do have this aftermarket immobilizer which has never gave me any problems, could this be cutting the spark. when i turn the key around to ignition 2 when i've not pressed the disarming button on the fob, i can't hear the fuel pump prime. do the immobilizers cut both fuel & spark ?

I know standard immobilisers cut spark, not sure about fuel though.

Get someone to crank it over while you have a plug ground of.

With the weather we've been getting just now some water has maybe gotten into the dizzy. Try spraying some water displacer onto the points and rotor arm. :)

how long have you been away? fuel can go off. check the idle air control valve isn't gummed up. give it a clean. check that all your earths to the body are good and not open circuit or high resistance, also whats the battery voltage at?

Might be idea to rip it out and see. ill see abt cranking it over & see whats, whats then.

6 weeks its been started up 2 twice but i put new fuel in car Saturday night as it was quite low. would be possible fuel to clogging up or something due to any crap in it ? I've got no iacv.. I'm running obx ITB'S. will do.. ill get new ones for just to be sure. don't know the battery voltage but ill give a charge now that you've mentioned it.

Have u check fuel relay?under driver side dash...

there one at the drivers side.. is that plug into the interior fuse box didn't know there was one there. ill change that out with another to see.

thanks for the advice guys.

My experience with hondas (b and d series) is that if left unused for periods of more than a few weeks then they have probs starting and the culprit is usually the fuel relays but is always intermittent and gets better after a few days of regular use and cold/hot cycles. If u can hear the pump prime up on the 'on' position then try unplugging the injectors, take out your plugs and attatch to all the leads and place carefully on engine, then have a buddy turnover the engine and look for sparks on all plugs, if sparks are present then ignition system can be ruled out so install everything and try using some 'easy start' and take it from there.
