B16A1 raising compression


Hi I haven't read all the tread but i did read you original question, so this may have been said already. maybe look at running a b16b head, which you have the benefits of the standard Honda port and polish, bigger cams, dual valve springs etc. then look at buying a set of b16b pistons, think the last time i looked reasonable price new on ICB motorsport, other option if you are already running ITB's what management are you using and is the map running to its full potential, ie what lamda are you running (how lean) as alot of mappers run rich because its "safe" which is a fair point but also because most of them dont know what they are doing and cant map the engine lean to a safe point!

Thanks JP, that thought did cross my mind how much do built type r heads usually go for 2nd hand? Am still considering the turbo option too although it goes well enough as it is being 850kg lol. ECU is the new Emerald unit and I have a wideband fitted, being mapped in 2 weeks so we'll see what happens :)

am been fighting that battle with myself for a long time, always been an NA man but might build a time attack ek turbo, we will see, I would think two options, wait till the mapping is done and see how she runs after that, if your still not happy, then decide na/boost, not quite sure what they are going for at the min, but well worth a look if your staying na, if your boosting the MB6 1.8C4 is a good option (cheap) for boost with its compression ratio standard, cams arnt to aggressive either, but you would want a b16/18 intake manifold as the dual length plenum on the C4 are great for granny driveabilty torque but no good for flow ;)
 
Got bored and wasn't a fan of the purple cover so bought a 2nd hand cover and painted it, should add another 10bhp :)
