Hey I have a eg6 and it had a vti engine in it the bottom end went when I had it out on the track. I have bought a sir engine and going to take out the vti engine and put the sir in my question is should I do anything to the sir engine before I put it in for example timing belt water pump head gasket etc etc what would yous recommended and secondly how much would the head of my vti engine be worth would love to hear your thoughts thanks in advance.

Kind of an odd question. Maintenance is down to condition. If it has a ton of miles and no history then most certainly would recommend at least a timing belt. Water pump is optional but I am yet to have one fail on me in any B series. As for head gasket that is much the same if its not broken don't fix it if you are on a budget and just want an engine in and working.

But in saying all that, if you have the time and money I would always recommend a head refresh ie small head mill, stem seals, port clean, valve clean and re-lap.

In reality all depends on the condition/ mileage/ history of the engine....... of which you have given no information on. So how long is a piece of string!??

The head is only worth what someone will pay. complete with cams maybe £100-200. But then is it 100%?? If your bottom end has gone from oil issues your likely to have damaged cam carriers as well considering the head is further away from the oil pump than the bottom end.

Not that odd of a question just seeing peoples toughts havnt a clue about mileage of the engine been honest seller gave Me his word it was a good dry engine so that's all I can go on.

So would it be better to just sell the vti engine in parts

If it was me and I didn't know anything about the engine id do timing belt and water pump just for peace of mind. You can see yourself before you put the engine in if it needs oil seals or not. Plus oil seals in general are fairly cheap even when you go genuine.
I'd also consider degreasing it while the engines out. Makes a world of difference. That's just my two cents
