Ok I carried out a swap ok on a 1.4 civic and put my engine and ecu in it. The ecu is a p28, which has no immobilizer? It has an adapter harness on it. The problem is when I tried to start it last night it wasn't giving it any fuel. I then swapped ecu's with my friend that has a spoon ecu and it started the engine!? Is this my harness thats wrong as it was for a facelife and I am using a prefacelift (the plugs fit fine). Or do I need to change the ignition barrel, locks etc? Please help, would appreciate.
Thanks goose

is your p28 chipped and mapped to suit the engine

if its a standard p28 then it wont run your car as its not the right map for the car

i had this problem way back when i was fitting a b16a2 to my 1.4. it was caused because my car was prefacelift and my new engine came from a facelift car. i tried an obd adapter and a jap ecu but it didnt work for me, the same thing as whats happening to you (sparking but no fuel).
i found that the wiring looms, interior to engine did not match up. i got a pre facelift ek9 engine loom fitted plus the ek9 ecu. started and ran like a dream after that!
hope this helps you mate as it done my head in for months before i got the right information and got it sorted!

It's the harness bud I believe.

Any map will literally start any engine within moderation, my b18 turbo was very first started with a d16 map on my AEM.

yep same as chrissyej9 you need a pre face lift loom an ecu mate as yor trying to run a obd2b in a obd2a... ek4 or ek9 loom will do the trick...

i've already got the prefacelift engine loom as i got told about that problem already luckily. does anyone know where i could get a harness? will anyone have one on here fairly close to me? kinda of glasgow area?
