Finally... after 2 years, two floods, and a forest fire, Angels Crest Highway is now open! It actually opened Friday, but today was my first day off of work. So I fitted my brand new EK9 cluster, and drove until I ran out of gas!

With my new cluster, it feels like a different car! I was finally able to rev all the way up to the 9000 rpm range, which I now realize I wasn't doing before!

The Angels Crest was literally washed off the side of the mountain. But now its back, sporting some fresh smoothed out asphalt. Its so new, that it still smells like tar! It now has recessed reflectors, which still make that sound to let you know you are hitting them, but now they don't make you lose control if you hit them while you are going to fast (why didn't they do this before!). With silky smooth curves that you wont see anywhere else, outside of porn. The Angels Crest is a true drivers dream.

It was pretty crowded up there, for it being the first weekend open in over 2 years! And also it was 2pm or 3pm (so shouldn't everyone be at work?). So I wasn't able to get in a good fast time attack going, which is a good thing. Because a couple of things became clear to me as I was driveing. Before I go back there (or any touge for that matter) I am going to need a couple of things.
  1. I need some new tires (I have a set of Toyo Proxies 4, don't ask).
  2. Need a new set of brakes (maybe some EBC's).
  3. Need a new set of coilovers (the amount of understeer was appalling!).
  4. I need to stiffen the chassis (see #3).
Well that about all I can think of. If anyone else can let me know if I am missing anything, it will be greatly appreciated.

Car I saw while I was up there... lets see. Various Civic's, Integra's (of course), and 911's, a Scion TC, and a Ferrari 599! An ass load of bikes (both motor and pedal), and just too many SUV's going way too slow.

OH and before I forget, that TC was blue and tried to race me. I passed it up and he never caught back up to me. Just like a Honda should every time it see's a Toyota! :))

awesome to hear, imma have to hit it up once i get back from my vacation and get some fresh rubber on my rims as well cuz mine are super baaaald. i was running up to gmr like every other day. i cant even count how much money i wasted in gas but it was well worth it. saw a supra and an old skool what looked like a truena drifting at the fork which was alright but the guy in the suora couldnt really drift but geez did it sound good tho.

Glad to hear bro. How is the gmr on cops? Topanga got real bad. Little Tu has its moments. But before it closed, Angels Crest was horrible on cops. You can think Initial D for that one.
