hello guys, just a couple questions id like to ask the experienced ek9.orgers :)

hopefully going to do a mb6 hub/282's swap onto my ek4 this weekend, was going to flush the system out and fill it up with a better/more track focussed brake fluid.

can anyone recommend decent one to use? and also how much ill need?

also going to heatwrap my manifold in the near future, again any idea how much ill need? dont want to come up short when in the middle of wrapping lol

thanks in advance

Dean

For the brake fluid try opie oils, they have a good selection :)

As for the heat wrap, the plenty of horror stories of manifolds cracking with it fitted, but i've never seen it personally. But i'm guessing you'll need at least 20m of it, wear gloves and long sleeves when fitting it as it does get itchy! And make sure the mani is clean and rust free, it's usually easier to fit it when the manifold is off the car.

Soak the heat wrap in water, makes it easier to mould round the exhaust.

Wear long sleeves minimal when you wrap the manifold haha. probs gloves too.

lol cheers mate

has anyone ever used the halfords DOT4 or DOT5.1 brake fluid? alot of the suppliers wont be able to get it to me by saturday so this may be my only option so i can still get my brakes etc on

thanks again

When heat wrapping try wearing clothes you dont need, or even better wear full sleeves plus bin liners over your arms. The glass fibres do get everywhere, in your clothes you will have to throw them away, on your skin you'l have VERY VERY itchy bright red arms for a good few days.
Get the wrap in a bucket of water like mentioned above, it does help alot, plus when wet you can kind of stretch the wrap around the mani, then when it dries it kind of contracts making the wrap even tighter. Makes a very big difference to under hood temps.

perfect bud looks great too :) how much did you usually use for a manifold?
