I live in Ireland and the cheapest carbon bonnet i have found is 520euro. I've looked on ebay and ebay america they go for pennys. But when I ask about delivering to Ireland that ask for roughly 350-400 euro for the delivery alone so it works out dearer. Does any one work in america or live there and they could send me a carbon bonnet or does any one know a cheap website???

The ones that go on ebay for cheap are pieces of crap. There are many factors to consider when it comes to the quality of a carbon hood. There is a lot of good information about carbon fiber and composites in general here http://www.racingcomposites.net/unf?id=10. Some factors to consider when buying a hood include of course weight, fitment, quality and strength of the latch (can you use the latch on the hood or are pins required?), resin quality (does it have bubbles or is fish eyed? how does it stand up to prolonged sunlight?), how it is made in the backing, how the carbon weave will fit with other carbon pieces, ect. Different weaves and different companies will look different even though its still carbon fiber.
The backing on a carbon fiber hood (its never ALL carbon of course) is usually fiberglass as with VIS or Seibon, but some companies have kevlar backing which is MUCH better, and much more expensive.
So overall if you want a good hood you will have to pay for it.

totally agree..!

The ones I found on ebay.com were 350 dollars which is roughly 280 euro and that was for vis ones????

An authentic VIS hood is actually pretty good, its not the lightest or strongest but its a pretty good quality from what I've seen, such as good resin clarity and good fitment with the car.

In Ireland there's only a few companies that can be imported through the shops. Carbon culture, 520euro, spoon, 850euro n d same for buddy club, I haven't really bothered checkin d rest!!! In my opinion they're a bit of a rip off!!

If they cost that much, then yeah, its probably not the best use of money for your ek9. (especailly for the 15 pounds it saves on average) I saved 19.5 pounds by switching to an odyssey pc545 battery, and that only cost me $100 US. So there are always ways to save money in lightening your car. There are a lot of free ways to save weight as well, as you probably know.

i think you get what you pay for with a carbon bonnet. the one on my SiR is about half the price of the one on the type R but it's half the bonnet too. The Varis one on my type R is a 100% fit, friend of mine had a carbon culture one and the where it met the wings it was raised a few mm both sides and around lights and grill wasnt a great fit.

I totally agree, I don't have a "top" one, I had the opportunity to lift up a FEEL's carbon integra type r carbon bonnet, and it seem a lot lighter than mine :(
