3RD Gear from S4C non lsd box into S80

Hi lads

Bought a gearbox for my B18C converted EK4, however there is a grind in 3rd, I can get a non lsd S4C for parts easy, are they just a direct swap and would it fix the grind?

Any advice appreciated

It's the synchro that's worn and needs replacing. I'm not too familiar with gear ratios between the 2 boxes but could end up with odd gearing if you use the s4c 3rd in an s80.

Did you get to the bottom of this mate? Been told it can be done and looking to do the same thing

Not really man just put it in can live with the grind as it's more just a notch

Told could just replace the third gear or the bauc rings or something like that would cure it

I would guess the syncro rings would be the same however to me that would be like doing a lot of work to avoid a small expense. A new syncro hub for one gear shouldn't be that expensive, however imo if you open up the box you would be better doing the seals and bearings at the same time.
