I have 2K basecoat dark amethyst pearl and was wondering how I should mix it?
What ratio of thinners, paint, hardener etc
Also what ratio of laquer, thinners, hardener for the clearcoat?
Thanks

You should get data sheet from supplier of the paint,as most of them are all different ratio depending on brand .

oh right. nah nothing like that. don't think it's that legit lol. but there colour match is usually very good.
think I'm just going to take it to a pro to finish it. At least I've prepped and primed it.

what manufacturers paint is the base coat?
if you let me know i can find out and possibly get the data sheets from work tomorrow,
normally the basecoat is mixed 1:1 or 2:1 with 2k universal thinners
the lacquer depends on the brand aswell, most of the lacquer we sell is 2:1 with activator and then 10% thinners

As Josh said you need the data-sheet, there are other things to think about such as the time window you have after applying the base-coat to shoot the clear.

not many professional painters will spray a car that has been prep'd and primed by someone else

spot on! if i get a part/car in prepped by someone else, i start all over again and do the prep, that way i know its been done properly
