Normally people upload to photo bucket.com and copy and paste the URL from there :nice:

Sorry to break it to you but its not a EK9 mate......

looks like your making some nice changes to it mate but as previously stated...its not a 9

looks like an EJ9... Thats not an EK9 or EK4..

looks good though, nice base to start from :D

:(( Oh wow... thats a bummer on the showroom floor it said it was an EK9... oh well a civic is a civic and we can't complain about that! I started playing with my throttle body the other week and bored it out, did some engine tweeks and got 130mph out of it. So I can't complain.

Thanks for clearing that up that its not a 9, perhaps a 4 or EJ... Im so new to Civics that Im not sure on engines either like D16 or stuff like that... but soon I will be up to scratch on the knowledge!

Thanks FatBoi & Tropher-EK9 & @L3X. I hope to do some more work on it when the weather decides to play nice and give me some sunshine!

Just did a DIY for the smoked lights :) Check it out and let me know :)

the EK9 has the 1.6 litre DOHC famous Vtec engine which gives 185hp.
the one underneath that is the EK4 which has again a 1.6 DOHC vtec engine but produces 158Hp

the EJ9 you have there will more than likely have a SOHC engine. it may or may not have vtec. some do some don't...

TBH if it was advertised as an EK9 you should go back and have words... as from EK9 - EJ9 can sometimes be as much as £4000 - £5000 difference..

basically you are talking Top of the range and then Bottom of the range..

but as you say its a civic, and there are many threads covering this on here that you can easily get this to handle as well and go aswell as an Ek9 if not better :p with a bit of money and some hard work its all achieveable...

and i'm sure your 130Mph was on a private road right ? :p bare in mind that your speedo will not be calibrated at that speed. so indicated 130Mph on the speedo will not be anything above 125mph tbh it may not even be 120 Mph.. always good to test speed with GPS speed .. even then factor in a 1% - 2% difference for accuracy..

in my last EK9 ( on track :p ) what should have been 100Mph ( 160Kph ) was actually a GPS speed of just 92Mph...

Anyway , Welcome to the site all the info is on here so think of a question and you can bet yourself its been asked and covered before - so enjoy your research :nice:

Hey guys had a look at the vin plate in the engine bay, it says the engine is a D14z something... does this help with finding out if its an EK4 or EJ9 ??

Welcome. D14 is an ej9. If you dont mind me asking but how much did you buy this for

Paid £350 for it, so I'm guessing that it's not that good seeing as its the EJ9... I spoke to a friend of mine that's got a 1993 Honda civic and he said that because its got the D14z engine it's got bigger shafts ect and it's a great engine and not a bad car. Bare in mind this is my 1st car as well. And every modification I am doing myself. :)

Sorry if I offended you, I didn't mean it in any malicious way. What I meant was to me it's still MY civic, regardless of it being a EJ9 or EK9 ect. Sorry guys but thank you to everyone for being so welcoming, and offering loads of help :)

It's no problem, I was kinda joking.....I hope you have deep pockets, civics are fun but they are money traps!

Haha I'm so poor I can't even afford to pay attention... Sorry! I don't have deep pockets that's why I'm doing everything myself. Local body shop down the road from mine charges £68.29 p/hr just for labour and not even any parts ect.. So may as well learn stuff in the process of doing it myself
