Happening folks

New to the jap scene so still learning the basics.

Passed a few hondas (2 EG type R's, an EJ6 and an ep3) the other night and couldnt help notice them popping higher up the revs...

A bit like this

Black Supra taking off from cars and coffe houston - YouTube

I was wondering how it could be done to my 1.4i sport EJ so when I change gear it pops/bangs. My old pug 106 popped and banged like mad but that was with a 4.1 mani, decat and 2.5" rear pipe.
Im looking at this rear can with the aim of decating in the new year. So how do I make it do this???

:thanks:

Overfuelling at a guess? Im not sure why you would want an N/A engine to sound like that, it just sounds like it needs a remap

As said over fueling when you get heigher up the rev range the ecu's aim is to provide maximum fueling and that's fine with stock engine car but once you modify the engine it usually gets more air and back pressure decreases so the ecu over compensates the fuel meaning extra un burnt fuel in the exhaust system and too much of it is very back. The way to sort this is a remap to correct the fueling to the mods

To answer your question even though IMO its daft, a large short ram filter, 4-1 mani, decat and a straight pipe with no boxes would and big'ol cannon at the back. Bearing in mind its a 1.4 though its never going to sound like that supra ahah

My experience of this with bikes is that its usually a sign of the fuelling being wrong. Once dynoed correctly they dont really do it. My tuner even said he could have tuned the bike to have it spitting flames out if I wanted but thought that was a little much. Anyone remember the Foggy Petronas race bikes? Once dynoed and tuned correctly it doesnt do it anymore. This was with a filter and Akrapovic exhaust.

Looking at that video Id say its more a rev limiter that causes that pop just as he changes gear.

My little 1.1 didnt have a rev limiter but I do agree with the over fueling as it did A LOT lol

my pulsar used to make a nice bang when i came off throttle at high rpm, thing was running lean!

just take your exhaust off and it will bang as much as you like

your probably best off fitting a armtec speed shift device which allows you to alter the rev limiter, shift lights and launch control, you would be king of the maccys car park with one of these

Popping and banging on over run is usually running lean, not rich.

I'm pretty sure it's the other way round. If you are getting popping and banging on the over run (letting off the throttle) the noise you are hearing in un-burnt fuel (ie it is over fueling) so therefore running rich

Haha, king of Maccys car park!

You are correct. Most tuned cars are tuned to run rich, aids engine cooling and is much safer - expecially if its a road car.
