Hi..
I was wondering if any of you forum members have any information or experiences with any of these cars?!?! Honda s2000 or Nissan 350z.

I am currently toying with parting with my ek9 and both of these cars have taken my fancy. Any input on any of these cars would be greatfull. Or if you highly recommend any other cars?!

Thanks

Steve

If you do part with your ek9, then go for the S2000. The 350z has much more power true, but it is also much heavier than the s2000 and so its isnt as agile and nimble as the s2000. The S2000 is way more fun since you can chuck it around with ease and besides you wont miss the vtec from the ek9.

If you are going to part with your EK9, just remember its not as easy to drive a rear wheel car fast, especially in the wet so be careful. The S2000 is very twitchy from what I have heard especially in the wet. The 350z is more comfortable and also doesn't rev as high as the S2000 but has good torque.

Thanks for the input guys....

And also the S2k has more horsepower than the ek9 figures show it is a shade slower 0-60 than the 9? Are these figures correct? Can you feel the difference in power whilst driving?

The S2000 can go to 60 faster than a standard EK9. I wouldn't worry about 0-60 times as they don't mean much on the circuit. The S2000 is quite a bit faster on the straights than an EK9 due to the bigger engine size and torque.

Be careful when searching for your S2000 mate..

A LOT of engines blow up! no joke. I know you might all think honda engines never go wrong but those F20C's do. I was very close to buying one till i heard sooooo many horror stories about the engines not being looked after etc. The S2K boys on the forum will steer you clear from buying a high mileage one high being 80k +! Those engines need to be cared for and if they're not then go wrong. You wanna find one with a Full Honda service history at least..the more you know about the car's history the better mate

Just my input :)

Hmmm didn't know that about the F20c, just assumed it would be as reliable if not more than the b series and k series.

The EK9 has around 200 kilos less weight which if you use the rule of thumb (6 kgs = 1 bhp) then the EK9 has around 210 BHP to the S2000's 240 BHP without weight as a factor. So not a huge difference. Obviously RWD has the advantage off the line when all the weight is transferred to the driven wheels. Never been in one though so can't compare.

yes you are right !!
an f20 engine needs more attension than any other honda engine
good service and good warm up before ''racing''
and the most dangerous are prefacelifts s2k's they had problems with oil jets and some with the valvetrain :nerv:
i like s2000s great cars imo
350z is a heavy car totaly different than an s
but dont blame f20c too much you havent heard about bmw m3 :secret:

get a test drive in an s2000 mate.. i have an ek9 but i have always wanted an s2000.. and after been in my cousins s2000 it jus confirms for me that it is my realistic dream car !!!;)

i've been in an S once i felt that my b18 had more torque lol

What about BMW M3?

I would like an E46 M3 myself some day for the pure comfort and nice power they provide but I have heard that they can give bother with rusting in places which is off-putting:angry:

Never been in an S2000 but raced 2 and had no problem pulling past them even at higher speeds.

I do love them though.

Ohhhh dan i think you've just turned this into "i can beat an s2000" thread HAHA your the last person i'd have expected that from! :))

I may as well add i've never been beat by an S2000 in any of my Honda's and have been in a few and driven one...

They are gutless below vtec..really are. Cos of the weight etc

But they are such an amazing car to drive...Go test drive one. You'll love it :)

hahaha! Nah man i was just saying as he said his B18 felt more powerful and i said well infact you are right as ive had no problems beating them in my B18 :blabla: lol

I've never heard anything about the engine blowing up, doesn't seem to come up as a a common fault on the S2k OC. Do you have any links or anything to people who have had the problem?

I made a thread asking about it after finding out a few horror stories and even more people posted up on the forum about having their engines blow! Even brand new AP2 engines have been blowing up so a couple of owners said but got done under warranty obviously.

I was going to view one a few days after i made that thread...and of course i never went after hearing that. Because those engines arent cheap to replace. I didnt think it worth the risk given how much the car's are to buy!
