This is a build thread of our EG race car we have built for the VTEC Challenge race series. As some of you may know we had a K22 Cosworth powered EK4 SiR which I raced for 2 years in the Nippon Challenge, but she was looking a bit tired so we thought time for something new.
Her in her prime...
So the new EG......its a bit belated build thread but thought I'd post some pics of how she started. We've raced her twice this year - once with stock B16b, once with B16b with ITBs and now we've just completed a K swap.
We spent a few weeks hunting down a Civic DX which we found down on the south coast owned by a mature women . No sunroof and rot free rear arches meant we snapped it and drove it home ready for the strippage to start
Not my favourite job, but a few 5am starts meant the sound proofing came up a treat leaving only minor residue and that was removed with a bit of elbow grease. As it stands now, its completely stripped except the running gear and ready for the new weld-in cage to be fitted next week. Most of the EK suspension and brakes will be used with a new engine and box being decided upon as we speak. New Polycarb window kit has been ordered along wit a few other bits so pogress should be pretty quick.
Pics and updates to follow
Started on the door yesterday and still a way to go, but its bloody light already
