PLEASE HELP GUYS-Starting up/Ignition Problems (possibly Fueling)

Do a compression test..
seen a vti civic burn out a Valve and chiped the pistion..
the car was very hard to start but it would then..
try that to u see. and let me no...

Me too-i've also cleaned the Idle Control Valve in case that it was blocked which it wasn't but since i was at it i thought i may aswell.

A compression test was advised to me by a former mechanic but i have no clue how to go about that

Will get back to you once i have further updates....
good man ill let you know if ive any updates too.
if you search on ebay you can get compression testing kits for 20-30 quid. im sure you can get them in your local motor factors as well. im going to get one and check that this weekend as well as the dizzy.

i had the same problem and it was the dizzie as said above once i changed it started first time and a oem dizzie is 500 new are u sure it wasent the cap u replace lol

Yes it was a complete new Distributor from Honda (not just the cap)

There seems to be a rash of this type of issue popping up as of late.

i had almost identical symptons to yours and got it sorted today,
it was the distributor was at fault. hope this helps and you get yours fixed aswell.

1-check to see if injectors are working properly, also look for loose connections.
2-check ECU...could be fried
3-check GROUND wires

Thanks for the comments and suggestions-i've been away on business trip and havent been able to get a start on this yet-poor civic is just gathering dust....

Had one come into the garage one day with an intermittent misfire, then total failure to run. The loom to the distributor was grounding out on the block - check for white marks that indicate arcing.

^^Ace!

After being held up with work problems, driving around an Evo VIII (Petrol was horrible feeding that thing) and the civic sleeping for the past couple weeks, a replacement Distributor arrived (Thank you Livvy)

replaced the Distributor and the civic is back to life! Looking at the old dizzy, i cant tell why it failed-but these things happen i guess....

Anyhow, thanks for everything and all the help and comments guys-hope this thread can help anyone else in future.

glad you got yours sorted too man, mine was the exact same and a new dizzy cured it. i couldnt see any faults with the dizzy but it must have been some internal electronics gave up.

Me too-couldnt see anything visually that was broken-most likely the internals as i was told that our Dizzy's have too many sensors packed in one place, not to mention with the hot engine bay-dizzy's are prone to breakdown failure
anyhowm glad that you got it sorted too
