Paul's EK4 Track Build

OK so I looked online and found that I do need an ECU harness adaptor. Im making a list of what I can use on the B16 in the B18. Can I use the sparkplugs from the B16, they only have 100 miles on them. Oil filter, again only 100 miles on it. Exhaust gasket, 100 miles. Lightweight flywheel and clutch. Im keeping the S4C gearbox but want to make sure they will work with the B18. Sorry for all the queations, just want to makes sure.

Don't re use the oil filter from the previous engine, especially because you had oil pump failure, it's probably full of metal filings,

Just make sure the b18 comes with a gear box bracket and buy it a b18 cambelt and you are away.

All the other bits should bolt on.

Also the b18c6 has the same head as the a2.....but not the c4 - at least the inlet stud spacing is different and maybe exhaust too.

Exhaust side is the same:nice:

Cheers for the help, im swapping the engines this weekend and decided to go with a Skunk2 intake and get rid of the dual runner one on the B18C4. Wish me luck.

Thanks for the kind comments. So its all ready to go, got my Skunk2 Intake manifold fitted, had to buy new studs as with the thermal gasket they are too short, so that was fun! I am not running the emmisions evap container so is it Ok to block the vac lines that fed it from the throttle body and intake manifold? Should all be fitted tomorrow and I will have pics and maybe even a video. Wish me luck!

So I had a busy weekend with the engine swap. The B16 came out and was replaced with a healthy B18C4. First step was to get the car to my mates place with a flatbed trailer.

Dropped the fluids

more to come...

Got the engine crane out and lined up and started to remove the old engine

Coming out!

and she is out

one sad looking engine bay

That filter at the back is a roll over valve from the fuel tank breather as I got rid of the emmisions container and replaced it with that, much less cluttered bay.

Got the gearbox off the old engine and swapped over the lightweight flywheel and clutch and put it all back together

more to come...

B18 lump going in smoothly, bit fiddly with the innovative engine mounts being so stiff!

Connected everything up and she started straight away and so smooth.

Bit of a whine coming from the AEM intake but thats just cos of a bad jubilee clip and the throttle cable needed adjusting, but apart from that its all good.

Gave the car its first wash in 2 years and she came out white again!

more to come....

So its been a few days with the car and its still looking good. Im going home via Eurospec 2000 after work to chat to them about the suspension and getting it set up properly as its scrubbing in the arches on big bumps.

Quick question, I am running 16x8 rota slips and they are rubbing on the arches on full lock and I've been thinking I need spacers on the front to cure this issue, but then the front wings will rub, hopefuly I will get some answers later at Eurospec.

After the suspension is all sorted I will be getting it mapped with Neptune at Eurospec, so cant wait for that. Anyway thats me done for a while, hope you enjoy the pics.

Looks really nice dude :nice:

Just needs front ek9 headlights and a genuine front lip

First trackday booked for 24th July at Brands Hatch...cant wait! Got some bits to do before it, suspension setting up is number one, getting it done at Eurospec. Had a chat with Ben there and he talked me through what they will do and was really good to talk to, car got a good reception too. Need to get some stiffer exhaust rubbers as my standard ones are perishing.

So been a while since I have updated this, just been enjoying the car and had the first track day evening last week. Here are a few pics from the day and a little vid my mate compiled of my overtakes. Need to sort out the arches and get them rolled as they are destroying my rear tyres, but thats not too hard and will be getting done soon.

The tyre problem...the lip is the issue and needs to go!

These two sounded great

Here is my vid.

The car performed really well, the tyres were very sticky and didnt get any understeer at any point. Need to sort out the exhaust as I was on the noise limit, so will be looking for a bung/ silencer for my rm01a. Cant wait for the next one :)
