My Rally Car Build

That is some build thread mate.

Car looks awesome. Just wish all mg's came like that :nice:

I have another MG so watch what you say.... hehe. I must admit i'm getting into the Honda vibe though. Would like a Teggy DC5 next i think.

My other one...

Arrival. KV85 Magnicors and Denso Iridium plugs. Boring update but every little helps.

Anyone found me a Dizzy yet??? :D

Exhaust....

Manifold

I took the easy option and decided to use Honda engine side and MG for the backbox. This way both sides fit as they should and then i just need a custom centre section.

Here's the manifold. It's a 2" Supersprint 4-2-1 that has been strengthened with some skidding and the centre joint welded to make it one piece. Took the Honda flange off and welded an MG one also. Just makes things easier for the centre section that all flanges match.

Before coating - just been blasted.

Back Box

Went for an X-Power Janspeed Twin. X-Power was the company that did alot of the tuning upgrades for the MG's when they were still going. Quite a well made/rare box now.

Centre section. Straight through in 2". Skidded where necessary with a flexi and a large silencer to try and keep her under 95db... :-/

Looking to get some decent vids up once i get competing in it.

Some more hosing arrived today from SFS. That will allow me to get some more bits piped up, done and dusted. More to tick off the epic list of jobs! :-/

As i'm still at university, i havn't had the biggest budget ever

:wow: are you serious? xD you have 2 mint MG ZRs and you're a student? how is this even possible haha.

this is by far the best ZR i've ever seen, my dad used to have the ZS and it flew so i can just imagine what this would be liike standard, let alone with a VTEC :p haha

keep us posted bro :nice

Last night turned was eventful...

I got all of the battery hooked up whilst Ade set the tappet clearances...With all that sorted the rocker could go on AND STAY ON!!

Plugs on and then got the engine and box all oiled up...

The time had come. We started to crank it over to check we had oil pressure... Gave it a while ticking over with no fuel pump, but the oil light still stayed lit. Both puzzled we decided to get the oil filter off and see if it was wet from oil... It was bone dry. Even more confused we sat back and swore for a while and then we could hear oil running from the hole where the filter belongs. Fook knows why it was dry after spinning and then it dribbled out on it's own accord. Anyway filter back on and span it again. The light went out. :)

Ignition on, fuel pump on and it started to fire. Please bare in mind what a mission Ade from AAautosport has had wiring this thing up. An engine that doesn't belong in this car using clocks that are different and part of the engine loom which is also different. Awesome effort i say.

It ran for a few seconds but then was switched off.

Few pics.

Here are mine. They were sat in a blokes garden for 2 years so were quite weathered...

Thanks,

Filled it up with coolant and found a leak... There is a coolant tubing that runs down the back of the block. To clean it i bead blasted it and i think it may have pitted it slightly round the seal. The seal was obviously replaced but the pitting is ruining the seal. Inlet manifold back off then and have to look at it. :(

Battery all in place now though, nice and secure. Kill switch mounted on the dash and the pull cords all connected. Big job done.

Thanks,
