Just a boring update...

Had a late offer to go to Silverstone to Trax, so we had some hectic times to get it ready. I had bought a new plate for it and the logbook was away for it being changed. DVLA took ages to return it and i couldn't tax it! The friday before Trax, still no logbook or tax. Saturday morning after 2 months waiting - it arrived! :D. How lucky was i???

So there we are atm... Sorry for all the pics - it has been a while since i updated the thread...

The engine plans are getting closer now. I have made progress and will be sharing with you guys very soon i hope! :D

Thanks

John

John,

Loving the progress !

Sounds sad but i was a bit gutted becuase i thought you had given up on the build or ran out of money. I allways loved the MG ZR and one with a honda engine is a match made in heaven.

My dash is the fave bit, I just love flocked dashes.

How long till the engine and then of course some Vids of it ripping up the road/dirt.

Good to see this thread back to life cant help but love purpose built race/rally cars.

Top work :)

Hi Ben,

Thanks for the comment - really appreciate that you like it! :thanks:

I havn't been online for a while to update, so that's why it's been ages. My bad.

Yes the engine plans are still happening. I want a B16B but recently i was thinking of an A2 just as they are much easier to find... My plan was to use an A2 with Skunk stage 3 cams, skunk inlet and run it on DTA management. Then use an S80 box with a plated diff... That should do me :)

I bought an old Rover 216 (D16A8 engined) and i used it for the mounts. The 216 is the same as the ZR engine bay wise, so i drilled the spotwelds and took the engine mounts from the chassis in preparation to weld into mine. Then it will be a factory looking job... Fingers crossed. I'm also considering using CRX front subrames, but we'll see!

Thanks

John :)

very nice car :woot:

When is your first event? you going to do forestry or tarmac?

i like your car mate..very good job..inside is perfect!
keep us update with the engine swap.
Mate your wheels are 17???if yes i think are big for this rally car...or not???i think it would be better with 16in

I'm hoping to have the car out next year sometime. I will be taking the car on gravel and tarmac. I have got 2 way adjustable suspension and 2 different sets of springs for both surfaces, so i can change the ride height/bump/rebound settings.

As for wheels... I am planning on using a 4:9:1 final drive to keep gearing nice and low, so i will use 17" on tarmac and 15" on gravel. This should be fine! :)

Thanks guys!

John

100% awesome build :D really impressive mate, inside looks spot on now, love the dash and the effort gone into it being right, like the lower passenger seat, cut out doors etc etc etc etc etc etc, Good work :D
