My Ek9 from Northern Ireland :)

I had planned on selling it, and I had a couple of guys interested from here, but I hmm'd and haa'd and decided to keep it in the end up, got some plans to freshen it up and leave it mint for the summer.

If somebody had come and badly wanted it I prob would have sold it for funds are tight with not having a job, but I would have regretted it so bad. Really glad I'm holding on to her now, but I cant see me having her out for NI JapShow even, so I'll just try and enjoy Port season instead :)

Thanks guys. Its getting a small overhaul in the next couple of months to leave it sitting right and up to par with my mates DC2 ;) should have a few updates later this week

looking good matt, i guess your not selling it anymore. shame we dont live closer be good to see this in the flesh. get a set of import plates and it will look perfect.

definitely need to get hunter and a few more honda heads together for some pictures! cant believe i've yet to see this about and i live between omagh and the derg! lol

If I happened to get a job and funds allowed a trackday in England / Scotland could be on the cards, but its unlikely in the present climate. Yea man it's a great car but just needed a few wee bits sorted to leave it on par with some of the 9's on here!

I know man! Well I cant see her driving before June to be honest. Me and Jack lifted the engine out there on Saturday. So she's a work in progress at the moment. Feel free to come have a look at her some day man. lol.

I seen your 9 at the Omagh cruise a few weeks back I think. Amazingly clean!! Going to have to take notes on cleaning products when I see you about :D

So I had planned to sell my EK9 before Christmas, but after getting a runabout, I was able to take her off the road for the next few months! and get her sitting real tidy for the summer, for she's an unreal car and I couldn't bring myself to let her go!

So I made a brave effort at clearing my shed out to allow the civic to go inside before getting stripped down and I eventually got her parked up and started stripping the front end back.

the paint on the engine bay wasn't mint and I decided that while respraying I'd do a mini wire-tuck. While I haven't had any experience with this, I am not too bad with a solder and heat shrink! So first up is the headlight looms. I am trying to get all the electrics sorted now and tested before I get it sprayed later on in the spring.

The battery will be relocated to the boot and the fuse box has been relocated under the dash in the passengers footwell!

I also have the coilovers out, as they are getting cleaned up and raised up to near standard height, While they are out, I'm going to strip down the underside to the paint again and re-waxoyl, as the old waxoyl has started to sag a little here and there. Thankfully all the bushings are sweet so with new drop links added I plan to paint / powdercoat the suspension components in a couple of months as well just to leave her real mint, before I tackle the bodywork!

The reason for trying to get it to standard height is I got a new manifold the other day 5Zigen 4-2-1 off Thumper in Dungannon and it is perfectly mint and I plan to have it remain that way. lol.Hopefully in the near future a new exhaust system will be purchased also! ;)

Recaros have been removed for they are getting a wash some day soon :) here's a few little snaps of them, one tiny little tear appearing on the drivers bolster but its nothing I'm gonna even worry about.

that is all for now, but hopefully I should be able to start sanding down the bay and get her ready for spraying by easter.

If anyone is interested in buying a 98 spec mani, or standard ek9 front strut brace in Red then get in touch as I'm looking to get them sold now.

After a bit of working with the fuse Box and wiring I have been able to relocate it behind the passenger side glovebox nice and neat with the help of a couple of bolts and 2 cable ties :) Looks quite smart in person I must say!! With it out and the battery gone to the boot the engine bay is started to take shape! few pics to follow

I also have a small hole that needs patched on the drivers side wing. I'm glad I found it because I want to get it all right the first time and not have to worry about any problems like that after I paint her! Also included in the pics is a mock-up of where my AEM V2 is going to sit also!

I'm in 2 minds as whether to take the engine out or not when I go to spray the bay :S

I have plans to start sanding down my manifold tomorrow and try and get the shine back in her, but we'll see how the motivation is come the time!

C &C Welcome.

Open to ideas also! What you guys think?

So I spent a few hours last week getting the engine ready for taking out. Removed the inlet mani and tb which gave me plenty of access to the wiring loom. So I labelled up the plugs on the loom and got it nicely out of the way... The stage was set!!

So on Saturday morning Jackhdc2 and Myself picked up an engine crane, and put it in the back of the heavy straight D :)

Not too long later we had it out and sitting pretty. lol. Found out along the way that the rear engine mount was done! Other than that everything looks straight forward and 100%. Happy with progress.

Next step is to get is stripped down underneath and re underseal before she gets trailored away for welding :)

some pics to follow. C&C Welcome

Also I never realised how big a bonnet was until I brought it inside and set in in my dining room beside my Recaros. lol.

I hope to have it finished for the summer time mate. June hopefully then get her taxed and tested :) All depending on funds as well. If I get a secure job then it shouldnt be a problem like.

Going to take my nuts and bolts and various other metal bits to an engineering company soon to get them regolded. Seen a friends coupe get it done and they turned out so well!

Do you guys recommend the 4.7 S80 box? Im currently thinking of selling my 4.4 for one...

That's some serious work :nice:

Also good to see your not selling. I've decided to hold onto mine as well for some fun for the summer.

Its coming on well now mate . I think the 5Zigen manifold is the best manifold for the b18c . You should get a light weight fly wheel for her before you put the engine back in . Keep up the good work .

Very good effort, keep it up!

Looking forward to seeing it progress as it was definitally in need of a refresh
