Right, Ive picked up my EK9 today after haveing the 98 spec B18C-R engine put in.

Mods are:

Apexi exhaust system
Import sprung custom header
Decat
Apexi intake
3.8KG flywheel
B16B gearbox with OEM 4.4 final drive

All the mods i had on the B16B transfered over to the B18.

Impressions are, i am shocked just how much more powerful the car feels to drive. It feels completely different, torque from the minute go, and i mean it pulls fairly hard in your seat from 2000RPM.

The pull is much smoother throughout the whole rev range and feels much more powerful. You can really notice the power from 3rd gear, just wants to rip the road. It actually sounds different too.

I havent compared to another car yet so actual speed i cant comment, but i can bet my bottom dollar from 3rd gear its much faster, not a bit, but ALOT.

I still love the revvy feel to the B16B though as this doesnt feel like your revving as hard. The power is more linear and continous throughout.

If its power your after the B18CR is a great option, really changes the experience. If its that light, revvy bike engine feel your after then the B16B is the one.

Feel very very different. Both feel great in their own way.

Cant wait to do mine this summer, how much did it end up costing ya in the end?

More details please! LOL

How come the B18C does not feel as revvy? What is the rev limit on it Dan..I thought the B18C was good for 9,000rpm?

Well, the B16b only makes torque high up in the rev range, the B18c does it better down low. And the VTEC kick from a B16b is much more agressive, bigger difference in power between the lowrpm profile and highrpm profile. So when it switches it suddenly has much more power.

That makes sense, thanks.

Think I would miss the revvy feel, but the extra torque/power and improved driveability will make up for it I guess!

Yeah i am gona miss the revvy feel to the little B16B for sure. Really loved that engine, served me dam well!

But the B18CR in the EK9 shell with mods and semi stripped makes a frigging powerful car.

Just went out again, mid 3rd gear feels crazy compared to before.

Ahhh so hard to choose!

I like them equally but the B18 suits me more as its much nicer and easier to drive around in higher gears and its more powerful so on the straights it will hold its own to faster cars.

If your looking to make your EK9 faster but want to keep it N/A, you need to get yourself one. It feels a BIG old difference. I wouldnt be surprised if i was up at least 25BHP from my B16B. And even more torque. Thats how different it feels.

wait till you find a nice stretch of motorway and really open her up:nice:.

the b18c's top end amazed me:shocked:

if i stay in 5th to long end up bouncing of the limiter:D

Dont mean to be a C**K but I TOLD YOU SO so!:p lol
Glad you like it mate!:nice:

Jimbob........... Fair play mate, fair play

I went out tonight on a proper run.

My friend has a REV 3 MR2 turbo with exhaust, around 250BHP. Very fast car.

Before with B16B he used to pull an edge in 1st and 2nd, then 3rd and 4th he used to rip past me. Literally blowing me away.

Now with B18CR its literally neck in neck from 1st gear to 130MPH!!!!

Its Soooo much faster its hard to grasp. I didnt realize it was quite that much faster until tonight.

Whoever hasnt got a B18CR, NEEDS ONE!
