My 1968 Honda S800 Re-build

Seen this in the flesh such a beautiful car and sounds great. Some proper love going into this!

Nice to see that people still restore the old cars :nice: it looks like new lad and I have never seen one of these being fixed up before

OK
Spent about 4 hours cleaning and polishing the Mk.1 replacement front and rear light lenses.
Rewired the new lights using some of the loom off of the old lights as bits had been cut off. No new wires so all still 100% oem.

So what do you think, took well over a year to find these

Removed this dash trim that had paint flaking and was rusty brown on the ends and round screw holes.
Managed to recreate the fine wrinkle finish by using the VHT paint we use on rocker covers and then leaving it for a few days to dry naturally without the baking.

I have been in the process of gathering parts to rebuild the original engine that was damaged by a valve head dropping off, then being dumped in a shed for 30 years.
Stripped it down and worked out i would need a replacement head, 1 piston/rings then throw it together and see how it works.
In hunting down the head i managed to aquire these:bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow:

TODA High Compression, Oversize Lightened Race Piston set

They feature a cut piston skirt to save weight, shorter lighter stronger gudgeon pin, thin compression rings, 3 piece oil scraper ring and 62mm.

So now the OEM engine is going to be over size, high comp. I am going to get a set of Honda RACE cam shafts, double valve springs some head piloshing and port matching.
Then as the OEM Kehein carbs are notorious for flodding or starving random cylinders of fuel i am going to fit ITB's (independent throttle bodies) with fuel injection.
:D:D I can then get her fully mapped to ensure its a safe engine.

Never get bored of seeing this at the meets :))

Are you aiming to have the new engine built in time for Japfest?

I will Prob have new engine built but ITB's not on as that's going to be a lot of work sussing out the loom and installing it all so it still looks OEM under the hood.

Hi
So little update. Did a couple of jobs towards getting it ready for Japfest.

Fitted the newly chromed indicator stalk. Should have been a 10 min job but ended up taking about 3 hrs due to the main beam switch deciding to be a bit tempramental :angry2:

While it was off i polished up the steering wheel. Started with 2000 grit paper, then G3 compound, top glaze and finally waxed it.
