Jesse888 Forged/stroker turbo ek9

I don't think that lead to your engine failure. I imagine your tuner would have put in place a boost cut limit meaning if you experienced a over boost condition the ecu would take action to protect the engine, normally a hard cut limiter.

I did speak to him. He did say that could cause my issue.
I did think about boost cut, assume it just cuts the spark out? Take it a socketed p28 has this facility?

Unfortunately peak boost doesn't save on the avcr, would have been able to rule it out straight away.
It would defo cause a problem though, so perhaps the boost cut fail safe didn't work? Is this possible?

Depends what your limiter routine is, can be fuel, ignition or both. Yes most obd1 mapping softwares have this feature.

Were you using stock map sensor? What boost was your engine mapped to run?

Was at the time yes.
I had wastegate spring at 0.4
Then boost controller set to 0.6bar
At time of failure I was on spring pressure.

I did.
Came back as one injector had a slight forward leak. Other than that they where all fine.

It is getting like that tbh.
Just got to stay focused on the target. Easy to try and cut corners and save cash here and there.
Like today I bought a 25row mocal oil cooler.
I had a 19 row before and the oil was getting abit warm, logic says upgrade to the next size up. Wallet says don't!
The cost of the 25 row is basically double the cost of a 19 row.

Afew updates to make
Got the oil cooler looks massive!
25 row mocal's finest

Got that fitted with some proper fittings. Where abit tight so had to pull the braid back, wasn't paying another £35 for two fittings!

Got the intake positioned how I want it for now, got the breathers on and exhaust bolted to downpipe.
Didn't picture these.
Then came to pulling the bumper out of storage, was stored under the interior plastics in the car.
Had bent the bumper out of shape pretty bad! Managed to get it fitted in the end with some quick release fasteners.(oem mounts are wrecked on my bumper)
Looks abit rough ATM no doubt will look 100x better once it's cleaned and polished.
6years of track time is starting to show if I'm honest, alittle rust on the front wings and bumper is a state but building a fast car is more important to me than building a pretty one. No room in the budget for both, yet!
So pictures of the front end back on!!

Lots of gold going on lol

May well replace he whole front end in time, would be for wider wheels and wings though so money!
Only bits left now are
Relocate battery
Fill gearbox with oil
Get base map
Then it starts!

Love the shiney stuff! Coming on great. keep up the good work!

Thanks man. Been a mission!
Seeing it with the bumper back on feels like victory, time will tell

I was thinking of putting my oil cooler in the same place where the aircon used to be but was worried how much air would actually be getting to it. yours is bigger than mine though lol

Isn't much room for it anywhere else tbh.
The 19row I had before(same place) held temps at 118c.
Had a short box aswell so found 9krpm quite often.

Had a wee read through this build, such a good effort with this Jesse! This will go very nicely once it's up and running :nice:

So a good few trackdays and ring trips next year?

Thanks man. Good effort reading this through tbh
I should have start footage next weekend(with some luck)
Been in touch with romain and he's sending me a basemap on a chip.
Gearbox oil is on the way from tegiwa and the battery will be in tomorrow.
A friend has just bought a new camera with a fancy microphone on it and he wants to play lol
I'm expecting a fair bit of smoke soon as the exhaust warms up, still a lot of oil residue left in the turbo/exhaust so that will have to burn off before I can see how that looks.
Will have afew friends over watching for leaks/smoke and oil pressure.

Outside chance that I can get 2 ring trips in this year, want a good few trackdays aswell. Soon as the engine is run in and ready it's going to brands lol

Nice one :)

So suspension, brakes, chassis wise it's all sorted and the way you want it?

Well....
I want to crack on with project splitter again so going to make a version 2 of that.
Once that's built I want to try a full flat floor.
Now if this works how I vision I may need some stronger brakes as the tyres could have a fair it more grip and over heat them from the ground effect I'm hoping to achieve.
If it goes really well then stiffer suspension will allow me to make more use of ground effect.
Will see how it goes with the ground effects first I suppose.
