hi there

I have a P28 ecu with a JUN chip. I am pondering on getting a Hondata added to the mix. I am thinking, if I would not be re-tuning my car every so often and can not tune it myself right now, (meaning I have to go tuner shop), is it worth it to get a s300 or just a s100 will be a good fix?

Also, what are the other things that I would need or need to to do if I am going to have Hondata?

Is "street tuning" any way better or worse that "dyno tuning"? Some people say that dyno tuning is "simulated" in a way and not with the real situation on the streets.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

I think the hondata s300 has more options! :D

I believe so too. But would it be necessary if not I am not going to pull out my own laptop and do my own tuning?

s100

The feature listed here is comprehensive enough for many of the enthusiasts who frequent ek9.org.

The S300 is recommended only because it is far more powerful and perhaps there's more "success stories" with it - this is NOT to say that with the level of mods you and others have, the S100 is incapable.

It is PLENTY capable as ARzEK4 pointed out. The only reason I would opt for the S300 is if you know your mods will go beyond your normal I/H/E + cams very quickly or you intend to change them frequently just because you want to try different setups.

Otherwise, your desire to go for the S100 suits you perfectly.

Dump that generic chip

Street tuning and dyno tuning are both essential. Dyno tuning allows you to extract the maximum potential out of your setup (WOT/wide open throttle) while street tuning is needed to ensure you get good fuel economy and drivability (part-throttle).

It is possible to do one without the other, but an experienced tuner will rely on both to extract the most out of your setup. AFRs can vary UP TO (not always) 0.5 going from dyno to street. An experienced tuner will know how to account for this variance.

s300 is miles better than an s100 as you dont have to use an emulator and burn new chips every tim eyou want to map it s300 is real time mappable with no extra hardware required apart from a basic laptop,

thanks for all the input.

yes, i am not going to re tune my car every so often.
yes, after my i/h/e setup i am not keen on going too much further, if ever, nothing really drastic.

i just have a stroked spoon16b and a few things in it.running a little high comp.spoon t/b.nothing really crazy like some of the guys here have.

now,i am more inclined for the s1 and street tune, but hopefully, dyno before just to baseline it. (if i would have a few spare bucks.hehe)

thanks again!

As said earlier a S100 is efficient for that set up. I would just take that P28 that is chipped already and just make a custom CromePro chip to it and be done with it. No more extra expense needed. Just find some one to tune it using CromePro and done deal. Sorry is not S100 vs S300 as u asked, but just letting u know another avenue.

Another 2 good options what i would highly recommend is either Ectune or Neptune. They both will do the job great.

if you want to keep re-tuning ur car then you are better off with the s300 but if you got the s100 you would have to keep putting new chips in. seems like a lot off hassel with the chips IMO.

Iv got the s300 and its really good as you can change anything you want your self but i would deffo recomend getting someone to set it up for you in a dyno.

hmm.. nice inputs..now i am looking into other stuff..

Hondata, eCtune, Crome, Uberdata, Neptune

i guess they are all reliable and easy to work with right?

There all pretty much the same layout/format but you need to see which one your local tuner uses.

Oh ok.most of the guys here (tuner shops) would use hondata.

individual tuners usually use chrome or uber

Hondata is probably your best choice in that case, the more familiar your tuner is with a certain software the quicker he will be tuning it and less cost on yourself if charging by the hr.

Go for what your tuner recommends you. To be prefectly honest with you though mate as long as you dont pick a piggyback you'll be fine. All those what you listed will do the job, all your tuner really needs is to edit the base fuel and ignition tables....

thanks sir.

yeah, that's what they say, stay away from those piggyback systems.

apexi afc and greedy emanage to name a few. i have not used these and i do not what they really do. i mean i know the basic but i not know why would they be essentially bad for a car.

cheers

either I will go to G5 (Wayne) or AJ Racing. Not sure yet.

Yup.sure will. a little off topic, but would adjustable cam gears be of big help when tuning or not worth the money?and time?
