FreakyParts 4 pot brake conversions

I'm still left wondering whether these will fit behind OEM EK9 wheels, since they're a smaller diameter than the 98 spec DC2 wheels...

There's only one way to find out :) fit a set :D
Or, measure the wheel and see what ID the wheel has and what distance you've got from the disk to the spokes. I can tell you the cheapest kit which reuses the original disks sits 51.8mm from the disk to the spokes and has an overall diameter of 320mm.
But is there a particular reason you want to hold onto the OEM wheels? There's plenty of 15" wheels out there that give the clearance for the calipers so you're not upping the size and increasing the cost of rubber, but you're fitting a wheel that wont need spacers to give you a far better braking solution than upgrading your pads.

Another here interested in a kit if it is confirmed it will work with the 4x100 EK4 hubs with MG ZR 282mm discs!

Same reason for most of us holding back on things we want to do to our cars - cash!!! In an ideal world, I'd be running 16" Volk CE28N's, but changing wheels at present is something I just can't justify cash wise.

Changing brakes, however, is. I've never been entirely happy with the OEM brakes on the EK9, which I find strange because others have - I guess I like to brake late and I just don't find them that responsive at times!

Anyways! Have been looking at brake upgrades to fit behind standard wheels for a while, and so far the only runners have been the Spoon calipers or K-Sport kit (both Circa £7-800). So I am very interested to know what the most powerful setup you will be able to fit behind the OEM wheels is and what it might cost.

If you need a car to develop these I could make mine available (for a discount obviously :)))

There's no reason why the kit for the DC2 wouldn't be able to be adapted (if needed) to fit onto the EK9. There could be 2 different options as well. One would be using the existing disks, but may need spacers with the standard wheels depending on the offset. The second would be a different disk with a deeper offset so the caliper would clear the inside of the spokes on the wheel.
Either are doable, but initially I'd need to compare the differences between the EK9 hub and the DC2, as to whether I'd need an EK9 one or could use the DC2 one we've already got.
Also, if anyone has a standard rim lying around they dont need for a while for development, that'd be handy, and of course I'd be able to sort some discount out for anyone who can help with the supply/development.

The engineers are based in Derby so a local would be even more helpful.

I'm not exactly local (London), but if I can supply my car for use in development send me a PM!

im interested inthis too. as for development, im based in Birmingham, any good?

OK i would like to order the extreme setup with the floating discs. I sent you a message from your site but have still not heard back from you. Can you please call me on 07867 900543 to sord out exactly what i require.
Thanks Duncan

Still no responce. IMO NOT a good way to start a new business!!
I may look into building this kit for my self.
Dunx

Is this the same kit that Julian is selling on itr-dc2 with the problems?

Duncan, are you the guy who emailed me the other day with an fsnet address? I replied but it bounced back. Didn't get notification of a reply to the thread either. Drop me a PM and we'll sort out price and specs on what you want.

No, this is a different kit. The only similarities are the calipers. My kits use different disk and the brackets are manufactured in house by my own engineer not outsourced.

Ok pm sent

I've just got a set of Endless 4 Pot calipers.. Would you be able to make me some brackets to fit them to my EK4 if I were to work out measurements/dimensions ect?

Should be able to yes. Are they radial? What size (diameter and thickness) disks do they take?
Best option is to get the calipers over to me and we can make the kit up on the bench and go from there.

They are radial mount yes, they're designed to take stock Evo 4 discs as they're part of a bolt on Evo 4 upgrade kit which keeps the stock disc size (IIRC 294mm dia and 26mm thick)

I plan to use them with MG ZR 282mm 4x100 discs on my EK4

Where abouts are you based mate?

We can have a look and see if it's doable. do you have a disk to fit it to? The only potential issue I can think of is there not being enough space to fit a bracket in between the caliper and the hub. We had some fun getting the radial mount Midilite calipers to fit with the 282mm disks.

I'm based in Derby but may be in Daventry next Thursday if that's any help :)

Ahhh well my fingers are crossed! I've not got the discs yet, no..

I'm not sure how soon I'm gonna get round to mounting them to be honest, so it's not urgent... But if I were to send you a few pics to give you an idea of the calipers do you think it would it help you work out if its a go-er?

I might have a disk in the workshop somewhere, if not I might be able to get hold of a pair if you want them with the kit. To be honest, most things are possible, but having them sat on the bench with the hub is 100 times easier than trying to gauge them by photos and measurements. Also, the engineer has got so much work on we're backed up around 4 weeks now anyway :)
