Ek9 vs ep3 vs astra vxr

agree 100% with everything said.

If i started neming the cars i have been even with, friends cars etc some people would definitely doubt.......

Saying that though i do thing you would pull quite a bit on a stock EK9 mate...

Ye the vxr really needs a diff mine is 300bhp struggles for traction i kno u can get a quife diff but im saving money,my vxr kills ep3s not sure an ek9 wud stand a chance unless it was highly tuned,im still fiending for an ek9 for the love of vtec that i have.does anyone think i shud get an teg dc2 or dc5??

yeah a 300BHP VXR would do a fair amount of damage to a completely stock EK9.... Although i do believe a 210-220BHP EK9 would give it a very good run!

DC2 and DC5 are lovely cars, they are always an option..... The EK9 does have the rarety on its side, its that bit more special in my eyes..... But pretty much the same car in different cloths....

The JDM version EP3 which comes with LSD and more power, better sussy etc, will beat an EK9 easily stock for stock at the drags. JDM EP3 is only slightly slower than the JDM DC5R.

I don't know about the UKDM EP3. But it should be faster.

EP3 15.1 and DC5 15.2 second quarter mile.........

My best is 15.2 on a few goes when my EK9 had just a filter and exhaust(still with cat) and very bad tires.....

That doesnt really explain much...... Different drivers/overtaking oppatunaties, performance of driver on that day etc etc etc, list goes on...

Im not convinced at all....

Hmmm the best motoring footage obviously not the bible to say which car is faster that the other, but it shows an idea of strengths and weaknesses of each cars driven by pro drivers who are hell of a lot more consistant than any old pricks that think they can drive. also the two drivers have to be the oldest senior drivers in best motoring, Gan San and Nakaya san being the most competitve if you have seen past best motoring battles.I think they first battle shows more than enough that the ek9 lacks in acceleration compared to the ep3 but catches it under braking and cornering due to being lighter. and as you said 1/4 mile times represent even less of an indication to which car is faster, as air temperature, altitude, surface temperature, surface conditions etc etc will be different. but if you cant be convinced by the first race in the footage(two cars racing on the same track with professional drivers) its safe to say you will never be convinced unless you race an ep3 5 times and get beaten 5 times. so I suggest if you wanna find out, find a friend with an ep3, roll from 20 kph and start racing, and see what happens(rolling takes out driver error some what, to see which car is faster)

could do it any track day. but i would love to see it go round the top gear test track.

i emailed top gear to see if they would let us. they can only say no which they more than likely will. but if its a yes that will be interesting :D

Hi there, that sounds a great idea!
What did you say in your e-mail to them as I would be more than happy to send one to Top Gear also.
Cheers :)

Dont get me wrong, a completely stock EK9 vs JDM EP3 i think the EP3 would come out in front, not by much by still pulling in each gear....

BUT, would i do think is a slightly modified EK9 with a few bolt ons i mean i confidant in a drag race the EK9 can easily match it.....

Start messing with internal work and head work and the EP3 would be no contender..... Thats all im saying.... But yes, im not easily convinced as ive seen some very strange videos in the past where cars were beating others when they shouldnt be.....

I trust figures(to a certain extent) and even more so my own experiences, not one but judging on a handful of various races etc as one or 2 races dont always explain too much......
