EK9 Racecar

Looking good Sam!
Cheers Jesse! Really looking forward to getting started now.
But I've just realised I forgot to source a rod stretch gauge and a piston ring file :(
And all the ones I find are from the US, can't find any UK based sellers.
I posted a thread just now.

Yeah I just replied lol

I had the same issue.

Out of interest why did you pick a buddy club head gasket?

To be honest, I just wanted to use good quality parts. And I was interested in trying it over an oem one.
They're supposed to be stronger....

The stock gasket is very good. Saying that your not likely to have issues with the buddy club one either.
I'd you do its just a headgasket and you know to bang an Oem one in.

Indeed! Hopefully the budyclub one will be good.

Just had a very exciting email. The US package is leaving the USA on Tuesday 14th
More updates to come this weekend too

So a few things have been happening, I sent my ECU off to get a basemap put on it so I can run in the engine once it's built. Sent it to Eurospec where Romain did the basemap for me, have to say Eurospec provide a fantastic service, I sent the ECU off on Wednesday and it was back before 12pm on Friday. Not sure if they're on this forum? If they are I'd tag them!

I had some tools arrive from Goodson in the US that I've been waiting for.
We have a Rod bolt stretch gauge

A piston ring filer

A good set of ring compressors, mine at work is a tube type which isn't as easy to use as these so I upgraded!

And a 3-4" micrometer

Again the service from Goodson was great, arrived within a week.

More parts are on their way but I've got plenty to get on with.
Plan this weekend is to get the front clip painted up or at least in primer.
It has started to get a bit tatty, so thought its best to paint it as the engine is out.
But before I do I'll be doing some cutting and welding in radiator brackets so I can fit my Dc2 rad that I bought off @jesse888 at Japfest.

And the final to do this weekend is to take the steering rack out so I can convert it to a manual rack using the guide on here.

What I'm hoping to rectify

Nice update. I like those ring compressors, like you say the barrell type are abit difficult to use.
I can't complain about eurospec either tbh I had my first build mapped there by romain.

Just had a read through your build thread mate, absolutely awesome! You'll love the boosted 9:))!

Yeh I like them too, they weren't very expensive either.

Thanks for reading mate!
Your 9 looks like it goes well! Was watching your track time videos :nice:

Love your attention to detail, it all pays off in the end so keep at it!

Cheers mate, I'll get some more done and get more videos up lol.

Thanks bud means a lot to hear nice feedback :nice:

Nice I'll keep a look out for more vids

That ring compressor is pretty cool, may have to purchase one myself, all the different sizes would be handy for doing bike engines,

Quite like the idea of the ring file as well,

Rack is out, I took the OS track rod end and boot off as this allowed enough clearance to take the rack out without taking the subframe down.

Now onto the rad mounts and painting!
