EK9 Race Base

So over the weekend I was able to get the splitter project finished.

I was sprayed black and then the final adjustments were made to get it sitting just right. Not one bit of vibration which is great! (Excuse the bird poo on my front bumper ha!)

I have finally given up waiting for my J’s Racing exhaust to arrive so have been refunded. Luckily Solid Fab were able to fit me in this Wednesday, so I shall be having a system made then. Can’t wait!

Yesterday I visited Solid Fabs for my new exhaust. As you can see from the pics safe to say my old one was certainly worse for wear! When removing it we didn’t even have to undo the back box just crack the rusted pipe away ha!

When the old system was removed Solid Fab set about making the new system, I’ll let the pics do the talking as the work is great.

I’m really pleased with it, look a little while to get used to the sound of a silenced exhaust on the way home haha! Sounds so much quieter in the car, on the outside it has just the right volume in my opinion. Would definitely recommend the work to anyone. Next up is an underside clean up (got so much grief off my mates about it on our group chat yesterday haha!)

Loving the car so far mate, that splitter looks awesome! I also have a solid fab 2.5" system on my dc2 and can vouch for the quality of work :)

Any plans for the car? Turbo? K20? :D

Thanks :nice:

The only real plans I have is some cleaning up stuff (undersealing, painting the interior DC2 full length rad). I have been getting the urge to sell it but I'm not sure if I can bring myself to do it haha!

I would love to K20 but I don't have pockets deep enough for it ha!

Don't sell it mate! You'll regret it and it will haunt you for the rest of your life xD

Exhaust looks really good. Out of interest how much was it?

Well after finding out insurance prices for a R32 GTR still being over a grand for me, I'm put off changing ha! Can't figure out quite why they're so expensive but oh well!

Solid Fabs cat back was £500 mate :nice:

That last pic looks just perfect, New exhaust looks good as well.
That underbody needs some attention before another winter attacks it!

Thanks for the complements :nice: Where I have a daily now the 9 will be staying off the road in any wet weather, the underside and engine bay will be cleaned up over the winter ready for shows next year!

Recently my good friend Jamie has recently started his own clothing company FYD. So far he's done some really high quality stuff with some great designs. In the past few weeks he's branched out into doing some media things including car reviews.

He asked to take my EK9 out and I was more than happy to help him out. As he admits in the video he's never been into Civic's but I think he may have been converted haha!

Check it out, its a great watch!

That's a great looking EK9.. the splitter and exhaust work really adds to the car! I always regretted selling my EK9 a few years back so hold onto it if you can and start saving for the GTR as a 2nd project :nice:

Saw this at JapFest, really tidy car. This used to belong to a friend and I think he regrets selling this!

Time to sort that rust, you'll end up with a hole somewhere else otherwise!!

Haha! I've said the underside will get sorted, and I mean it. It's all being stripped down this winter and staying off the road.

Thanks for all the kind comments :nice:

Thought I better update this as it’s been a while.

Not much has happened, just collecting parts for a refresh over the winter. I recently did a service and polished it before taking it to Japshow Finale at Santa Pod.

My mate recorded the Hindhead tunnel run, never realised the Solid Fabs exhaust sounded so good!

We were one of the first cars in the show and shine at Japshow, got this pic in the morning sunrise!

I should update this as a few bits have happened recently.

I’ve finally been home long enough to get some work done! I’ve replaced both wheel bearings, both front ball joints, front & rear anti-roll bar bushes, track rod ends, inner tie rods, 02 sensor and got a fast road set up done. Safe to say it’s driving so much nicer now!

Finally after 3 years of having one Takata I decided to get a matching one haha!

When I owned my DC2 I had the rear stripped out and painted, it was so nice I decided to do it again!

For Christmas I bought myself a Skunk2 battery tie down to tart up the engine bay a bit more haha!

With the rear seats out I decided to give myself a birthday treat and buy an x-brace to replace the chocolate braces that were in there already!

Only got it half fitted currently due to the crappy weather and other car projects going on. Of course I had to give it a good wash off to get the winter crap off it!
